According to this list, the P220 nitrons are discontinued as of 2020.

The complete line of P225 is being discontinued.

The P226 and P229 are being significantly shrunk in models.

"The P238 line is decreasing in size significantly. There are no additions but the following variants are all being discontinued:"

"The P320 line is going to see pretty significant changes."

"The 716 line is getting gutted for 2020."

"The MCX line is seeing a significant amount of shrinkage."

"All the Sig suppressors have been removed from he 2020 price list with the exception of one, the SRD22X."

With so many all-metal P-series pistols out there some one could start a very lucrative business manufacturing replacement parts. I'm not talking about super struts or straight triggers, just routine maintenance items. P220 parts are drying up. I can't even to find original factory polymer grips that aren't 'slim' or extremely overpriced.
If that business truly had potential, SIG would be doing it.

Sig has not given up on all metal hammer pistols. There are a large number of models and variations of many models still there.

The 225A-1 just was not selling well enough to justify allocating production costs to its manufacture.

So according to that website with the list, this change happens yearly. Which means if they catch enough flak from the market for not having the pistols we all want; they’ll likely make another change back towards more metal frame hammer pistols next year. Seems to me they’re just streamlining the inventory right now. Might be a way to figure out what people want, but I don’t have a business or marketing degree.

I’m a huge fan of the P220. Love my Nitron railed version. It’s an amazing gun. That being said, if it’s not selling, they are going to be like Browning and halt production for awhile and end up doing limited runs and smalller batches that sell out for premium prices.

I have noticed that Sig no longer has the p220 on the “small parts” list. I have found most of what I need on other sites and on occasion when I called Sig to see if they could still source something for me directly a lot of the time it was out of stock. Slightly concerning...

For as many years as the 220 line has been in production, I would imagine there is pretty much unlimited quantities of parts available, both used and new. It may become like ammo...just have to keep looking until you find something you want at a price you want.

Looking at this discontinued list, it appears Sig is changing things up quite a bit and in many cases offering only Legion models and heavy focus on RXP, pre-installed Romeos.

That small parts shopper is relatively new and Sig has been slow to populate it. And it is not perfect, even for the 226.

Also, I recall noticing the 220 Nitron was still included in the Armed Pro catalogs for 2020?

But I don’t know if either point really serves as a hint re the future return of basic Nitrons to the consumer market.

Sorry to resurrect this old post, but I just joined the "Legion" with my newly purchased (ODGreen'ish) P220 .45ACP Full Size SAO. I was looking for a metal framed .45 that was NOT a 1911 (hammer or striker fired), and my LGS/FFL had 2 Legion P220's and another nearby shop has 6 Nitron P220's. Hope the P220 continues to rock on for many more decades (including parts)...

Walther "potentially" has a new handgun (or two/three) releasing this year and the word in the ether is that it could be a steel framed .45ACP striker based off of their SF Q5 and Q4. This would possibly also be a new replacement for their out going PPQ .45ACP striker w/ polymer frame. I couldn't wait on Walther and don't care for CZ's, and I already have a pair of .45's from H&K w/ LEM ver. 7 bobbed hammers (but no metal frames).

Thus, I'm doing my part to keep the P220 sales relevant (Lol).
