Hey all, I’m looking at the P365 and Shield plus. I’m a smaller frame and want something easy to conceal. I know the P365 is smaller on paper and can just see it visually, but my question is how much does that actually affect concealment. Some people say not enough to make a difference. I know this depends on location of carry, and, obviously body size. I’m 5”10 145.

Thanks!

I own a P365XL and the original Shield
Once I got the P365 I put my shield in a box where it sits today.
That said it is not the Shield Plus..there is also a Shield Plus + 4
Here is a link to HandgunHero which is a good site for comparing handguns.
Sig Sauer P365 vs Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield Plus size comparison | Handgun Hero

I like the XL Grip better than the original 365
A gun store and or a Gun Show is a good place that you can first if you have not already done so..
Put each gun into your hand and see how they feel.
Don't get too hung up on the smallest gun you can find for Concealed Carry.
I carry my Larger P320 without an issue.
I'm 5'8 and 100lbs more than you.
I carry on my right side at about 4o'clock.
Unless you are Appendix carrying you should be fine.

Obviously there are many versions of the Shield and the P365 it really boils down to which you feel proficient with.
Many gun dealers will probably have both in that you can rent them and do a side by side

My P365 has a Wilson Combat Grip with a Talon Grip

WCP365 XL
After it was confiscated by the Police...Long Story
When it was returned to me the officer in charge of confiscated guns said that his fellow police officers really liked both my P365 and P320.
For what it's worth!

Good Luck in your quest.

I have both -- the P365 that I have had for years and a Shield Plus that I am breaking in/sighting in. My P365 has been my primary carry gun and it is reliable and very accurate. The Shield fits my hand a little better, and runs great; when I get the sights adjusted I will be able to complete my comparison, but my advice would be to spend some time shooting both and see which suits you better. I don;t think there is any difference at all in concealability. Good luck!!

Welcome to the forum, Seve. I don't own one, but I did handle a Shield Plus before, it's a nice pistol. It is a little bulkier in all ways compared to the base 365.
I think a fairer comparison would be with a P365x, the Shield is only slightly bulkier than it. Go on handgunhero.com, they've got a nice visual on comparing various pistols, sizes and whatnot.

As far as concealability with your frame type in mind, it mostly depends on what your carry setup would be. I'm fairly slim as well, and here's how I roll with my P365 w/ 12 round mag in it. As you could see, it basically disappears if done right.

I would shoot each of them. Just because it conceals better does not mean you will shoot it well. I went from the Shield 1.0 to the P365, and then to the Shield Plus. The grips on the P365 are just too narrow for me, even with a Hogue grip. The Shield Plus is my EDC and sometimes rotate in a P365XL. Good luck on your search!

While I don't own the Shield Plus, I did purchase the Shield (reg), just before the 365's started to show up. I liked the way the Shield felt in my hand and actually shot. Then I had a chance to see and shoot the 365 at our local indoor range, when they 1st got them in. It was slightly smaller and thinner than the Shield and it shot good, as well. While both are fine pistols, I prefer to actually carry the 365 with a 12rd mag (I have all but the 17rd). And printing isn't really a problem at all with either, and a little less so with the 365.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I have rented each once and first rounds I shot the shield much better. But by the end they were getting closer so not sure if the shield is just easier or more similar to I have shot in the past.
Sounds like most people think the shield is easier, mainly because it is slightly bigger. That’s why if they conceal about the same I would lean shield. I do have a Ruger SR9c so then a part of me says just get the 365 for ultimate concealment, and use the ruger if I want bigger/more accurate.

I have a Shield Plus, a P365 and P365 XL. Shield plus kinda is between the two for concealment. I can pocket carry the P365 but, not the other two. I think IWB it’s all about the same. I feel like the Shield Plus handles recoil the best, it’s my wife’s gun and I rotate thru those two P365s plus and an XMacro for EDC. Shield plus is sure cheaper.

I have a P365X and a P365XL. I also have several M&P 9 Shields; one gen1, one in .45ACP, and two Plus's one being the basic 3.1" piece and the other is a 4" PC model. Of these guns, my P365's are two of my primary carry guns. With 14+1 rounds in their standard 12-round mags, thanks to the MagGuts +2 spring kits, they are really fine carry guns.
