The G10 grips are attached using screws. The screw holes for the G10 grips are under the E2 grips on the P229. All you need is the grips and proper grip screws.

 

The Houge's are a good choice. I never did care for the cheese graters of the E2. Some prefer them though.

 

Yep, grip screws is all you will need. The bigger question is if will you like the fuller G10 grips. If you like the E2’s grip angle and closeness to the trigger, you might not be happy with anything else as there really isn’t anything else quite like the E2 grip. Full disclosure, I love the grip angle of my BHP and it is very similar to the E2.

G10's will make it look sharp.

 

I recommend the G-10s over the E2 grips. I have three pistols that came with E2 grips: P220, P224, and P227, all now wear G-10s.

 

If you are looking for slightly slimmer G-10 grips, you may want to look at Hogues relatively new Classic Contour version. I have recently replaced several of my E2 grips with them. Classic Contour on the left in photos below...

 

I prefer these over the original E2’s.

These are Hogues. Similar to the Legions.

 

I just put some Hogue Contour Classic Piranha grips on my recently purchased Elite and I love them.

I also got the Hogue Contour Classics several weeks ago for my eight year old P229 and I love them. See these notes from Hogue on screws, recommended torque, and medum strenth adhesive such as locktite blue. I have cadet size hands, whatever that means. I think smaller than medium with short fingers. I have been shooting a lot with the new grips and am loving them.

Just do not over tighten the screws.

 

Is anyone running wood grips?

 

Here is some wood on a P226. I really like these grips, they offer great traction for wood.

 

I do on my P229 Equinox.
