Romeo 1 on X-carry: iron sight solution anyone?

I have a Sig P320 x-carry and have a Romeo 1 on it. I love the gun in virtually all aspects except for one:
There is no option for a rear sight other than the tiny notch cut out of the optic itself. Using that in conjunction with the x-ray front sight, you basically bury the front sight out of the picture. To make it work, I would need quite a bit more height from the rear sight (and front).

Has anyone come up with a solution for this or do you just go with the "use the window and notch" in an emergency? I did a quick search on here but didn't find anything.

On a side note, the x-ray sights that come with the gun are really nice. My eyes are just not what they used to be so a red dot is pretty much mandatory for me these days.

Best regards,
Peter

Well, I have a second, third, fourth, and fifth handgun but was more interested in what folks were doing about this specific gun.
As a follow-up, I have ordered a Dawson Precision front sight in suppressor height. After I get it installed, I will give some thoughts on this thread in case anyone is interested.
Cheers,
Peter

In all seriousness though, there's not much you can do because there's no other space to put rear sights on. Unfortunately other models of the 320 mostly have a spot milled for the Romeo in addition to the rear sight notch so you can use both. In thinking about that though, my RX has suppressor height sights on the front and rear and they line up well enough to see the front post through the notch in the Romeo. So maybe look at getting the Sig sights: https://www.sigsauer.com/store/siglite-supressor-night-sight-set-p-series.html

Thanks Wrecks. It just seems odd to me that a “carry” gun doesn’t have a solid answer for iron sights. I am hoping that the suppressor height front sight will be usable with the rear notch cutout of the Romeo. That would be completely acceptable for me. If not, I might look at an adapter plate for a DeltaPoint Pro which has a dovetail built in for a rear sight.
Thanks for the reply.
Best,
Peter

I, too, found it strange that the RX setup allows cowitness with a rear sight, but the X series does not. I own a P320 X-Five and a P320c RX. My competition ready X-Five is stuck using the notch on the R1. Whereas my P320c RX will cowitness out the box, I'll get a X-Carry grip (already on preorder), and a GG trigger. Except for the "lightning cuts" and "X-Carry" logo (Which I personally don't care about either) it'll be a better X-Carry and I'm still in for less than $800. I just wonder why they didn't do the X-Carry slide the same way to start with if they were going to give it a optic cut?

That sounds weird to me. You just mounted the romeo directly to the frame right...no plate? I had plenty of adjustment for mine.
On another note, the suppressor sight that I ordered from Dawson was way too tall. I guess that it what I get for not measuring. I ordered the .400 height. I am now thinking that I need a taller sight but not suppressor height. I am trying to find a height that will let me use the notch in the romeo.

Correct, I mounted directly onto the slide (after removal of the one piece cover/rear night sights). We know Co-witnessing is extremely low in the optic. But The range of adjustability doesn’t seem to go far enough to move the red dot between the rear notch sight and the center of the front dot sight. Consequently, at the lowest availability setting.....POI is 2” high at 15 yards.

I spoke with someone at Sig and he didn’t have an answer. Seems like such an oversight to not have a front sight ready to go with the Romeo mounted. I also reached out to Dawson and he got right back to me but didn’t really have a good answer either. Using a caliper, and doing some quick measurements, it seems like the front sight height needed isn’t offered by Dawson. At least I couldn’t find one that was close.
I could get a suppressor height sight and file it down but I would like to have a fiber optic front or a night sight.
The search continues.

Just ask sig to sell you the front sight from a P320 X5. This will allow you to co-witness the rear notch with the front sight. That’s the setup I have on my X5 with the Romeo 1. The rear notch co-witnesses with the front sight.
The rear notch of the Romeo? I thought the x-5 had an iron sight on the rear mounted behind the optic? Are they the same height? If it is that simple, I cannot believe that the Sig guy couldn't tell me that. Thanks!

The rear sight notch on the Romeo 1 is higher than the iron sight that is an integral part of the plate that comes with the x-carry. Because of that, you need a higher front sight to match it. I hope that makes sense.
My issue was finding a front sight that is the correct height. Sounds like we might have the answer from the X5 competition model.

I did email Dave Dawson. The front sight supplied is the one that matches to the iron sight that comes with the gun. There is no standard front sight for pairing with the Romeo. Dawson offers 12 different heights for the P320...which is the same sight that the x series takes. Dave didn't want to suggest a certain height as all shooters prefer different things. I will be getting one from him once I can sort out the proper height.

I love the x5 & the x carry and most of all I love the grip module.. But the lack of rear sights pushed me to sell my x5 and go another route..

I bought the rx compact, I thru a carry frame on it.. I have a x carry grip module on preorder so once it's released I will have my own version of the x carry in a way.. X carry grip module with compact RX slide with suppressor height sights to co witness Romeo 1.

After that I'll try to get ahold of a threaded barrel.

Not much you can do unfortunately about your problem, but maybe go another route.. Perhaps buy another slide and have it milled for optic or just buy a RX and follow my lead lol

X carry with Romeo1 co-witness with stock front sight

I purchased the x carry and ran a few hundred rounds with the irons. I got very nice groups that were impressive for me.
I purchased and placed the Romeo1 on it and the groups shrank 100%.
Interestingly the stock front sight co-witnessed with the Romeo1 rear-notch at lower 1/4 rather than lower 1/3 reference to the dot. For me, this is sufficient and I don't see the need to replace the front sight.

I see, i get what you mean, you just have to work around the existing xcarry stock front sight with the notch of the r1, it wont be a perfect 1/3 co witness but can mitigate it or adjust a bit higher i suppose if you really need to use the sights instead of the red dot during and emergency black out of the r1.....
