Which Deltapoint Pro

I just picked up my P320 x-carry Pro. Born on date 3-27-19.
I want to put on a DPP. Question is, the 2.5 MOA dot or 7.5 MOA triangle?
Initially this will be a range gun, but I want to eventually make it a carry.
I know on the range the 2.5 dot will probably be preferable, but, I’m Thinking the 7.5 triangle (using the tip zeroed may work just as well). For carry the 7.5 may be easier to pick up.
I could use some feedback. I currently use Vortex Venoms. Both 3 and 6 MOA dots. Like them both. For “target or bullseye”, the 3 is preferable, but shooting 8 to 25 yards, either works.
What do you think?
Thanks.
Oh yeah. I’ll try to post pics after I clean it up!

I went with the 7.5 triangle for carry. My old eyes absolutely love it at the range as well. Not that I’ve ever been a sharpshooter, but if I was those days would be long over (hence ANY red dot lol).

You can make it dim enough, and still see it fine, that it doesn’t interfere at all.

Just remember, eyesight has a lot to do with it, as well as primary use (target shooting vs home/self defense).

I’m far from an expert, but my 7.5 triangle on the DPP is WAY easier to pick up quickly than the tiny dot that came on the Romeo1 on the P229 Legion RX.

I am 61, have an astigmatism, and wear trifocals. If I had perfect vision, I might see it differently.

Very true, each person's eyes are different. My eyes without glasses give me a pretty fuzzy reticle on my red dots, with my glasses they are clear as can be. I do not have a dpp. I do have a holosun 507c. It has a 2 moa Dot with the 65moa circle. The circle is great for carry/defensive purposes and the dot is great for more precise shots.

I will be milling my p320 slide for the rmr/holosun instead of running a sig stock optic slide because is do not prefer their choice of optics...

I have the DPP 2.5 on my X-Compact and I also hemmed and hawed between the two. I have found the 2.5 can be made to seem a little larger by increasing the brightness. Also, it is a different animal when sighting and as such, it was recommended to me that you keep your eyes on target and bring the dot to them — not find the dot first and try to bring it to the target. It is getting easier and quicker to do and I am much more consistent hitting near my point of aim. It has been a real game changer for me.

Buy both options and without mounting them see which one you like better around the house and at the range. Once you have made your selection, mount it and send the other one back.

Good luck to you.

I've got the DPP 2.5MOA on one gun and Romeo 1 3MOA on 2 other guns and I'd say, if the "primary" use is going to be to carry it. I'd personally go with the 7.5MOA Triangle. Going to be much easier to pick up quickly. If you are ever going to need it while carrying, time will likely be of the essence.

I see it as personal preference, perhaps the OP can actually look at the two options and see what seems best. I have 4 different red dots (from 2 to 6 MOA) on ARs and pistols and, with a little practice, they are all fast and easy to acquire. I like the dot on my DPP, but then that is what I'm used to using.

Been thinking about the DPP as well, and pondering the dot size.

So you use the top point of the triangle as the sighting point rather than the center of the triangle? I have been wondering about that for a while and have been meaning to ask that question.

You can, then when needing fast sight acquisition just get the triangle on target. If you’re aiming center mass, you’ll hit, just a wee bit low but still likely effective. Since “my” other Sigs are combat hold, and my DPP is on a Sig, I wanted my point of impact to be under the center of triangle just as if it was a Sig front sight.

Plus I sighted mine in to center of triangle as my days of precision shooting are long gone (age/eyesight).

That’s one of the draws to the triangle, you can pick how you want to sight it in, where a dot will be a dot.

I have several red dots in both 3 and 6 MOA on various pistols. I like them all. I’m leaning toward a 7.5 triangle for this install. I would want to zero top of triangle for target shooting, thinking in a carry situation the entire triangle would pick up clean and be a great quick reference.
Any thoughts?

For pistol, I'd say 7.5. I have a 6 MOA in my trijicon (juat what I have to reference with that's close to a DPP) and its way faster to pick up than my Aim Point Micro, which is 2, IIRC.

If you want to swap this to other platforms, maybe the 2. But honestly, I've shot the 6 MOA on my AR9 out to 100 yds, no problem. For plinking long range it depends alot on your target. Like a 8 inch target would do good, fit right inside the triangle, that's how I shot mine. Also, at 100 yes, 7 would still be in a deers kill zone, just as an example, so it's not as huge as some may think in reality. It's only 1/3 of a human @100 yds shoulder to shoulder, not really all that big. Dont get too wrapped up in precision, IMHO. This day and age everybody wants sub moa, etc. I get in that mentality, too. But for red dot, speed is the niche it fulfills, and 7 moa is good to me.

Also, remember when shooting long range that lowering the power can go a long way. If its retina burning, like I see guys do alot, it blooms, and is inconsistent fuzziness. When going long range, lower it so that you can see the target THROUGH the dot for better alignment. You may already know this, but I find alot of people crank up their red dot and think it sucks for longer range, so just a friendly reminder.

Try lockedloaded.com and email for price. It looks like only the 2.5 is in stock at the moment. Price is same for both, so if you email you can see how much the 7.5 would be. Took mine about a week to arrive.

Thanks for your feedback. I plan on using it for USPSA, so speed shooting basically. I can obviously play with it to see which method works best now that I know that either method is an option. I wasn't sure how much elevation adjustment there would be, but it sounds like there is plenty.

I am currently using a Romeo 1 6 MOA, and I also have a Vortex 3 MOA on a .22 pistol. I much prefer the 6 MOA with my old eyes.

Thanks again.
The dpp 2.5 is very bright, i think its only 2.5 when you dim it down. I could not imagine using a triangle for close shots and the tip for far shots. You are trying to be fast remember.

1 dot, 1 aiming reference.

Just got my DPP. I purchased the 7.5 delta. (Triangle). Mounted easily. I went through the intensity levels. Pretty bright at the upper limit, but beautifully clean at the mid levels. I’m going to roughly dial it in with the laser bore sight tonight, then to the range. Hopefully this weekend. I will post results. Thanks for all the help. I think I may still purchase a DPP 2.5 MOA and mount it on another pistol if this one works out for me.

Kos1 I'm 64in a couple weeks and wear trifocals , have a astigmatism and I'm right handed and left eye dominate but have hunted with a 2 or 3moa dot since '78 . Middle section of my lens if set to my front sight distance so I can atleast pick it up useing a flash sight pisture method of defensive shooting . I wife has a RM05g with a 9moa dot on her m&p core for out door fun and match use but its the lens coating is to dark for HD needs and My wife was thing about a change to it . I bought a venom with a 3moa dot to add to my m&p and she asked if she could try it and since I still had to have my slide milled I mounted on here core for her to try out !! Now I have to order another optic for mine . I've never had red dot issues except for lens coating color or tint but you have to use the distance vision part of your lens with a dot optic not the mid section like you would for your standard sights . Distance vison section of your lens should give you a crystal view of your dot clear dot but for me I seem to be more comfortable with the dots intensity turned down so the dots not over powering .

I not to a point I need a dot for defensive drills but for small groups or hunting there the cats rear end ! MY wifes apex m&p cores good for 1.1" at 25 yards and easier to tune to a load using glock recoil springs ..

Are you replacing the front sight and added the add on rear to the sight ?

hardluk1, a member here on another thread recommended a Dawson .400 front sight and the add on DPP rear. I looked on the Dawson website. They have a set of suppressor height sights for the P320, but out of stock. Since the slide on my Pro is milled for a dovetail rear sight separate from the optic plate, I’m going to get ahold of Dawson to see if their suppressor height sights would work with the DPP. If not I’ll probably go with the Dawson .400 front and DPP add on rear. It looks like to add the DPP rear sight I would still have to remove the stock Sig rear for clearance.

Shot the X-carry Pro with a DPP 7.5 MOA delta yesterday. It’s a pretty sweet set up. After I played with the intensity for a while in bright daylight, it is very sharp. I’m working on bullseye at the apex of the delta. (Triangle). Then shooting through the delta for quick acquisition. A work in progress. Very different from my Vortex Venom dots!
After a session in 88 degree heat, initially dialed in. I only shot out to 15 yards but consistently kept 2” groups centered to POA with 5 and 10 shot groups. Still work to do
