I've had to replace two trigger return springs now. Gun has about 2,500 rounds through it. Each spring seems to split in half at around 1,000 rounds.

When the first one went I bought a three pack from Sigs website. That was about two years ago. So I have a few questions at this point.

1.) Where can I buy a new spring as I expect to be replacing this again and I have only one backup so far?
2.) Has Sig done any sort of update on the springs to make them stronger because I've seen others having this issue?
3.) Any aftermarket ones that hold up better?

Enjoying the gun a lot but I'm concerned about reliability now. Only mod I have done was I put it in XL grip module. This gun was manufactured in 2021

I switched to these and replace them at 2500-3000 rds since I had one break at ~3,500.

I’ve had similar issues with my P365’s trigger return spring, and it’s been a bit frustrating. I swapped mine out with a +10% spring from Armory Craft, and it’s been holding up much better than the factory one so far. I’d recommend checking out SigGuy.com for their +10% option too, as they use a stronger material (chrome silicon alloy) that’s supposed to be more durable.

As for the frequency of replacements, I’ve seen others change them every 2,000–3,000 rounds to stay ahead of potential breakage. For peace of mind, I keep a spare or two on hand—better safe than sorry! The P365 is a great gun overall, but this seems to be a common issue that’s easy to manage with the right parts.

I just received my SIG GUY order of his +10% silicon chrome trigger return springs. Over lunch I put 1 on my P365 with the most rounds shot: 2500 (0 mechanical issues with this, or any of the other family P365s/XLs). I'll shoot it later this week/wknd, but my observations in just handling it are:
  • pre installation the fishscale gave trigger pulls at 4.0 - 4.25 lbs - and pretty smooth
  • sig guy +10 spring fishscale readings 4.25 - 4.5 lbs (so, less than a 10% increase in effort) - still smooth
  • the wall seems to break just a tad cleaner even with the minimally higher effort - maybe just a little less creep getting past the wall to break the shot
  • audible sound with the +10% spring is subtly higher but noticeable - both trigger breaking the shot and upon reset

I'll use it in Sunday's carry class, but I doubt I'll really notice it doing our draw, move, multiple target with multiple shot drills

For those of you that have replaced your trigger return springs, did you use any special tool to install the new one? Sig Guy sells a kit that includes a 90 degree pick that is designed to help with installing a trigger return spring. Not sure if it is needed. What say you?

Yesterday I shot my P365 that has 2500 rounds through it - but with a new TRS and RSA. At the bench the fish scale indicated it added about 1/3 of a pound to trigger pull (from around 4.25 to just over 4.5 lbs) - and my other bench impressions are in my earlier post above. Without focusing on it while shooting, the trigger felt just about like before: predictable, with maybe just a "smidge" cleaner break and reset. My carry class is tomorrow where I'll use it for the drills - I expect there won;t be a noticeable difference.

I thought I'd share a pic of the TRS I removed (at 2500 rounds). And yes, these springs do wear just a little as seen in the pic: shiny spot at about 11 o'clock does show very slight wear - kind of "polished that area with just a hint of wear. Make of it what you will. In 1 of the other P365s I will install this used TRS and RSA and shoot it more - maybe even to failure to see how long either will last

First one went at 1200ish rounds, second one closer to 1500. Dead trigger and then sure enough I disassemble the gun and I find the spring in two pieces.

I thought the first one was a fluke. Then the second one went and that's why I started this thread to see if there is a higher quality option out there.

I have my 365 in a XL grip module and find this gun pretty enjoyable to shoot especially for the size. It's common for me to shoot 250 rounds at a range visit and not feel fatigued like some of the other micro options out there. Still not confident to carry it though

wasrbuffalo - FWIW, a P365 or P365 XL has been my 90% carry gun since late 2018 (with no mechanical issues at all). And from prior threads it looked like (to me) around 2500 rounds was a point to evaluate certain (normal wear) components for replacement. For the TRS I may reduce the round count replacement level a bit based on these reports. - not sure yet to what reduced level.

Not sure of the round count but my late 2018 model P365 is over 2k without any malfunctions. I thought it might be a good idea to at least have a trigger spring and a RSA on hand, just in case. I ordered a couple of the +10% springs and the RSA from the Sig Guy.

I pulled the FCU last night and swapped the springs out. Using a 90° pick, I found the swap to be simple and straight forward. I did not notice any unusual wear on the stock spring but I'll inspect it and post a picture later today. When compressing the new spring during installation, I could feel the new spring was indeed stiffer. Trigger pull was increased just a bit but not sure I would have noticed the difference, had I not dry fired the pistol several times prior to the swap. The trigger reset was definitely improved and no longer has that mushy feeling.

I'll shoot it later today or tomorrow to verify function but I don't expect any issues.

My next highest round count is a XL with 1700 rounds (100% trouble free). I decided to examine the TRS to see how it compared to the 1 I replaced at 2500 rounds. Pic of XL TRS is below, and it exhibits similar "wear/polishing" at 11 o'clock -maybe a little less. Since I have sig guy +10% silicone chrome springs, I just put 1 in - since this too is a carry gun. I'm not losing sleep over it, but I figured why not.

I thankfully haven't had a TRS issue on my P365's, however, I did preemptively replace them with ISMI springs for more peace of mind. My training duplicate has several thousand through it with the new spring. Fingers crossed I hit 10k with no issues.

Sig needs to get it together with their metallurgy/finish issues. The P320 has always sucked, but the P365 is a real gem. They shouldn't let it tank too because they decided to outsource to India and use a sharpie to finish their slides.

So are most of you changing these after 1,000 rounds? Mine seems to break at 1200ish which has been really annoying because that's like every four range visits for me.

Im no gunsmith or professional and definitely not a lawyer but here is my story..... I did have an issue in my original 365 (2020) with premature failure of the trigger return spring (200rnds or so). it happened 2 times. So I installed new spring (3rd one), and based on the way it failed and looked, thought it might be making contact with something and wearing a flat spot on the spring. So put lithium grease on it, and put a few rounds thru it. Then disassembled. Noticed that the spring was making contact with the inside of the factory polymer grip, based on lithium grease deposits and how it was removed from spring. Took some 220 grit and ever so lightly buffed the polymer grip where spring was making contact reinstalled, added white lithium grease and looked for contact. Took a few gentle sanding but since then probably over 2K rnds + on current trigger return spring with no problem. I put almost 4K rnds thru my xl with no problems with trigger return spring. I don't pretend to be a professional so you be the judge.
