Thinnest Grips for Sig P229?

Hi Folks,

Hope all is well.

I am currently carrying my Sig P229. It's nothing too special but it is a great firearm to me. It's a New Hampshire made, two tone with FO/tritium front sight and SRT. It currently wears the E2 grips which are very nice but I am wondering if there is anything thinner. I have small-medium hands and anything that will reduce the reach to the trigger would be great. Also, anything to slim it down even slightly IWB would be beneficial.

Anyone have recommendations?

Thanks!

I wear size small Mechanix gloves and have no problem shooting a 226 legion with the legion grip and gray guns trigger. I had doubt when I first got it but have had no issues after some practice. Trigger reach has been no issue with it and I feel no need for a short reach trigger or E2 grips.

I say give it time before you add any unnecessary cost into it.

Listen to Sigmund. After haing been shooting for a few years, I am thinking of removing the short reach trigger and putting the going back to the standard short reset trigger.

Which Grips are those TacoJoe? Are they chain link? I almost bought some Piranha G-10 off of Ebay. This is a pic of my P229 Enhanced Elite with the E2 grips. I replaced the trigger with a short reach trigger. It came with a short reset trigger and if I am correct I now have a short reset short reach trigger. Sorry, I am a technophobe with a new PC and don't understand the software else I would have rotated the picture. The original short reset trigger is in the pic for comparison.

Maybe this may be of help... with the P229

I was using the E2s s well, but have found that with the new Contour Classic Hogue G-10s with the "Thin" Triggers to be manageable as well...

Yes, that is a P229R, on the Trigger, going to the Thin Trigger gives a .2" (2/10") reduction in "length of pull" essentially, and at the top of the grip, where the web of your hand would be, is possibly .1" (1/10") since unmarked, but at the center of the grip another .2" (2/10") difference.

And Willard, why is it called Contour Classic. I see where the patterning goes up a lot higher. Is that it or is there more to it?
The sides are more profiled (rounded) than being squarish of the earlier models.

And Willard, why is it called Contour Classic. I see where the patterning goes up a lot higher. Is that it or is there more to it? I should explain better. I believe all the Hogue G-10 grips for the P228/P229 are much like what you are showing on a P226, but the Contour Classic continues the pattern, whehter it be chain, piranha, or checkering, up fouther towards the slide. All the G10 grips increase the depth of the grip (meaning front to back) as is indicated in the drawing you posted.

The Sig branded do normally go for more, due to you paying for the branding. The 2nd pair of P229 grips I got from Sig of the Gray/Black G-10s were like $149 a couple of years ago when I picked up my CPO P229 ESE, and had to sign up for notification (Note: Sometimes I think that is how they gauge to have another lot made.). I'm considering the Contour Classics as a replacement, since they don't feel as 'blocky" for lack of a better description, but I do feel like I have better control.

This is for the P226 E2 Grips over the standard 2 piece grips..

I replaced my Short Reach Trigger (on a P226 SSE 40) with the standard trigger (it was tucked into a corner of the blue case) and it was a huge improvement in the trigger pull for me. The Short Reach Trigger stung me quite often but that might just have been the 40 S&W talking.

I just ordered grips from Hogue. Mascus Black G10s with inveres checkering. Since I wanted the name Sig Sauer on the impossible to get grips, I will likely get some SIG medallions off of Ebay and install them on the new grips. Bblr did the same a few years ago and theyBelow is the stock image from the Hogue site.

Another option, especially if you're already considering a trigger change, is the Gray Guns dual adjustable trigger. It will remove the pre travel in DA, effectively shortening the reach to the trigger. Two added bonuses are, it doesn't have the trigger bite that many experience with the short trigger, and you can shorten the reset with the over travel adjustment. Just another option.

While you are correct, the newer Armory Craft Dual Adjustable Short Reach Trigger, gives even more advantage to those with smaller hands...
