The 716I is definitely not just another AR-10. SIG hit it out the park with that rifle and with a bit more support in the form of an SDI lower and different barrel lengths and calibers it could probably take over that category. Now I do share your sentiments towards the SCAR, APC308, and SPEAR being the evolution. However, just because they're better designed platforms all around, at $3-8k per, why buy one when a 716I is under $1500? Especially in .308 what more are you getting?
