The S&W Bodyguard 2.0 just dropped. I have to say, it looks good so far. It has a ten round magazine (12 rd second mag) and some nice sights, really thin too at .88 w. Less than 10 oz, so lighter than a Jframe. "U Channel rear with orange trit front". With or without manual safety.
MSRP $450, so about $375 or so actual.

Sootch shows that it's about the same size as the Ruger LCP Max, which is great.

I will probably own one. We'll see what people say, but with the teething issues on the LCP Max, I'd already opt for one of these.

IMO this isn't quite as deep concealment, like the standard LCP, for pocket carry, although it could still be pocket carried.

I like the Glock 42, but this has more rounds and isn't much bigger.

If I'm being extra picky, I prefer a bladed trigger safety like the Shield 2.0 or Glock, compared to this. This is likely more comfortable to the pad, but could allow trash or lint to get behind the paddle.
It wouldn't be a deal breaker, but makes me think an Apex eventually, assuming its nice otherwise.

Oh!!!!...........already on the shelf! Guess I need to run out for some bread and milk.......or something?

Edit: Just did some checking online- there is a local gun store (that I don't normally use) shows that they have it in stock! $399.99 - just may have to find a reason go in that direction.
It's been two hours and we still don't have pictures of it in your hand in your truck. You can't be slacking after teasing us like that. 😉

I am going to buy one. I have the Bodyguard with the double action and a LCP Max that I can compare it against.

I actually like the double action on the Bodyguard as it seems safe for pocket carry (in a holster)…kind of like a J frame trigger. It is a little challenging to shoot and requires some range time to get used to. I do a fair amount of point and shoot with this and ignore the sights. The sights are small and all black.

The LCP Max holds more rounds than the Bodyguard I own, has better sights and a lighter trigger but there is just something about it I do not like. Hard to describe but it just seems to sit differently in my hand. It has a higher bore axis and feels somewhat slick. Again, it’s another point and shoot pocket pistol. I bought a Vedder pocket holster for this one as I prefer kydex over a soft pocket holster for this one because it doesn’t have a manual safety.

The new Bodyguard seems to have all the features I want in a pocket pistol. Trigger seems too light though, so will buy one with a manual safety and get a kydex pocket holster for it. Number one criteria is it has to be reliable with hollow points. The original bodyguard, with the heavy trigger, has been 100% reliable for me.
I had a safety on my first Shield. The safety is so small I'd never be able to actuate it in a fight, so I left it off. My shield 2.0 and Shield Plus I bought no safety and used a good holster and like my other strikers, I never worried about it. Everyone is different on that and that's fine.
This does look like an excellent option.

Picked one up today for my wife. She hates the P365 she has but is very excited about this new BG 2.0. I have never seen her excited about a gun ever but she has fallen in love with this one and claimed it as her own. She won't carry her p365 but is excitedly waiting for her new holster to arrive so she can carry this one.
A 380 on the hip beats a 9mm in the dresser drawer any day of the week IMHO. I'm glad she finally found something that suits her comfort, size, and needs.
Fantastic. I'd like to hear option on ergonomics and shooting impressions when you get time.
Happy she's happy.

I don't get excited about .380s, but I'm excited about this one.

It is very small but not so small as to be unshootable. I have average sized hands for a man and I can hold and shoot it comfortably. My left thumb (I'm right handed) falls perfectly on the stippled pad on the left side of the pistol just where it should be.

At first we were both shooting about 3-4" left. After examining the sights on the pistol I noticed the rear sight was not centered on the slide. I drifted the rear sight maybe 1/16 to 3/32 to the right and its dead on for both of us now.

THIS PISTOL WEIGHS 10ozs. I am amazed it is so small and manageable to shoot. I am a die hard Sig guy and lately my EDC has been my P365 AXG Legion. That's not going to change but I already ordered another BG 2.0 for pocket carry for myself. I will always carry the 365 AXG LEGION as a first choice but for places like doctors offices etc etc this BG 2.0 is going to be a great 2nd EDC or even a back up gun to my p365 AXG Legion.

Totally happy so far so much so that I already have a 2nd one on order.
Wow, that's great to hear. Glad it worked out.

Quick story. One time I pocket carried a P32 into the Orthopedic Doc office. He decided to take an Xray of my knee. When they left the room I put the P32 and my wallet and phone in my hat and folded it over with the rear strap over the bill. I sat it on the table in the tray room. I got nervous when she started sitting film trays next to my hat afraid she'd knock it on the floor. LMAO. Everything was good, but had me thinking "aww dang!' for a minute.

Couldn't resist. Local gun store called me today and said they had the Bodyguard 2.0 in stock. $399 out the door.

It's an amazingly small firearm. About the size of a Sig P238 or Ruger LCP but remarkably thinner. The grip seems longer due to the design of the trigger guard and beaver tail. With the flush fit magazine, I have more than enough room to achieve a very strong grip (normal size hands on this end). There have been comparisons to a cell phone with regards of the thickness and that's not far from the mark. It feels really good in the hand and may be the thinnest gun I've ever owned.

The trigger is okay but nothing to hold a parade over. Sights are in the same boat. I like the front sight but wish the rear had some illuminated markers. A tritium dot at the base of the U curve?

The slide is a little stiff but not impossible to pull back. The Sig P238 and P365 in .380 had smoother slides right out of the box. My guess is that after a few 100 rounds, things will be smoother and easier to deal with. I like the serrations on the slide.

I haven't owned a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic since the 1980's outside the original Bodyguard. The Bodyguard 2.0 blows the original out of the water in so many respects. Better trigger, better sights, better feel, better price, better capacity, etc. I haven't shot the Bodyguard 2.0 but suspect it will perform better as well.

All in all, if you are in the market for a pocketable, small semi-auto the Bodyguard 2.0 should be on the short list. Not considering the price, I would lean towards giving the Sig P365 .380 a slight edge. But the Bodyguard is priced about $100 less and that could go towards a holster, extra mags or ammo. No hesitation putting the Bodyguard 2.0 ahead of the Ruger LCP series, Kahr .380's and the Glock 42.
Fantastic. Love the details.

We need pictures or you lose a point. 😉

Shoots really good. On par with the Sig P365 .380, if not a little better. Better than the P238 as well.

Really surprised how little recoil this tiny handgun has. I'm guessing because your grip basically swallows up the handgun and sits higher on the grip. The slide does loosen up a good bit after about 50 or so rounds (not that it was terrible out of the box) and the trigger isn't too shabby. Not a fan of the dongle on the trigger but it pairs up really well with the trigger that you don't feel it. It's also a bit wider and flatter, which helps with the feel.

All in all, zero disappointment with this purchase. I'm partial to Sig and they could learn a little from the Bodyguard 2.0. I just need spare mags to hit the market...
Thanks for the feedback

For me, it will only be used for pocket carry. I see it in the same way as other pocket guns but it has the advantage of a more usable grip thanks to the low bore axis and trigger guard undercut. I am thinking most folks can get 3 fingers on that grip. I am also thinking recoil will be less than a typical J frame with double the capacity. I love j frames but this little Bodyguard looks impressive…at least the reviews and comments to date.

If it is reliable, I think it will send my LCP Max and original Bodyguard down the road. But it must be reliable with hollow points.
Yes, this is act my only interest in it actually. I don't prefer the small narrow frames. It will be a a pocket and NPE pistol. Smallest I care to go otherwise is my J Frame. I actually prefer my Jframe, but this has more capacity and quick reloadability. I probably won't carry it often, but it would be nice in the lineup just the same.
