Romeo 1 won't wake up

I've liked my Romeo 1, and even carried it quite a bit. It's been in the vault for a week or 2. I got it out today, with three other guns to get some trigger time. I pulled it out of my range bag, removed the cover, and it wasn't lit. I never turn it off, I just let it go to sleep. It's always "woke up" as soon as I pick up the gun. I messed with the buttons but no light from the emitter. I check the battery cover daily when I'm carrying it, and after every range session. I decided to use this as a chance to use the back up sights. After 3 rounds it started working. Usually it "wakes up" by simply moving the gun. I've sit it on a shelf before to verify it goes to sleep, and seen it wake up as soon as I move it.
Is this a common problem? Could this be a symptom of a low battery? The battery is ~6 months old but it hasn't lost any brightness.

I've got a Shield sights SMS on my X-compact. I may just get another one for the gun I have the Romeo on. I don't know if I will trust it to carry......unless some of you tell me the battery is simply too old..needs to be changed.

I left it on a shelf last night where I could see it without touching it today. It went to sleep like it was supposed to do. When I picked it up it started working again but went out after a couple minutes. I believe it was a battery problem. The contacts are/were clean, and had a dab or dielectric grease on them. I had the battery compartment top loosen once, but I honestly can't say if the battery has been replaced, or if I just removed and cleaned everything when the top was loose. I put a new battery in it and it's working find now. I've got a stack of duracells I bought from work. The battery in it wasn't branded...just said lithium 1632 on the top.
