Hello again good people! I'm thinking of buying a new one and I'm wondering what the size comparison is to the P226 MK 25 that I already own?
Is the size differential similar to the HK USP full size 9 mm versus the USP compact 9 mm both of which I have both of which I love and my first favorite gun of course is my P226!!!
Please advise!

The size differential is bigger for the USP9 full to compact than it is for the P226 to P229.

 

TS, you're correct, in reading it again it's almost impossible to answer without having all 4 weapons, but I was initially comparing the unloaded, without magazine P229 with a P226, both equipped with the same sights, since I don't have either HK weapon.

 

This is another one of those threads that require reading a couple times.

The OP is not interested in real measurable data comparing the real size differences between 4 models from two different manufacturers. Two of each manufacturer, comparing a full size to a compact. What is needed, is a member of SigTalk, who happens to own all 4 mentioned models, AND has the EXACT same size hand as the OP, to tell the OP whether the difference between the two HKs and the two Sigs in question feels the same. He only wants the entirely subjective opinion of a person with the exact same size hand to help him with a decision that could be answered by actually holding the P229 in question. Good luck with that one.

The P30 is much more svelte than the USP Compact. I prefer a DA/SA P229 Elite or Legion to either.

 

Just 0.5" shorter in length. Height is stated as 0.1" shorter but that is "in the noise" of fitting the sites from one pistol to another.

With the right holster and belt, one can carry nearly anything concealed - before I got my P365 I was carrying either a P227 SAS, P228 or P229 SAS in a N82 IWB holster!

The 229 feels the same in the hand as the 226. It’s grip is just a tad shorter and barrel is just a tad shorter. Pretty simple

 

I own the P229 and the MK25. A Mk25/P226 is longer. The P229 is actually easier to EDC vs P226 due to the shorter slide. Not by much, but in this case size does matter.

 

The M11A-1 is actually P229 without a rail with a short reach trigger and short reset trigger already installed, night sites and it has the anti-corrosion treatment like the MK25 P226 Navy

IMO the M11A-1 is the all around best pistol being offered by anyone today (If I had to pick any other to compare it would be the HK USP compact 9MM DA/SA no safety its only equal)

 

Yep...The p229 and USP Compact are the perfect top notch carry pistols, especially for the round they were designed for (40/357sig) imho

 

I own several 229s and 226s. My 229 is my EDC. While not a massive difference in size from the 226, the 229 is definitely better for cc. Every bit matters when carrying concealed. Like I always say, if CC, my favorite gun in the world is the 229 but if a duty weapon or other open carry situation it’s the 226.

 

P229 isn't that much smaller than the P226. The P229 is really quite a large, chunky pistol compared to a lot of options on the market today.

That said, if you don't own a P229 you probably owe it to yourself to get one - especially if you ever wished your P226 was just a teenie bit smaller.

I don't find it large at all or chunky. I carry some kind of P229 daily and some times I carry a P226. I'm not sure if I'm just use to all metal guns because I carry comfortably all the time.
