P365 XMacro with a Short Grip

How small a grip could I reasonably put on a P365 XMacro? I’m trying to make it as concealable as possible and yet fully reliable for use when I really need to stay concealed. I see lots of people making their 365s more like an XMacro but essentially nothing the other direction.

Thank you.

If you are trying to have the smallest footprint of the p365 then why not just get a standard p365?

If you want the xmacro slide with the standard grip of the p365, there shouldn’t be any reason you couldn’t do that. But again, you might as well just get a standard p365.

On that note, even at the full xmacro the footprint is smaller than a tradition compact pistol like a M&P 2.0 4” or G19. Having the ability to have a full grip hits your reliability piece as even if it’s more concealable but you are not accurate with a short grip, it defeats the purpose.

My suggestion is to shoot with a XL grip, a xmacro grip, and a standard grip. Decide which you shoot best. And maybe which slide you like more. I prefer the XL/Xmacro slide as it is less snappy. And I prefer the xmacro grip to get a full purchase on the grip. Then from there my outfits revolve around me carrying to have less potential to print.

My two cents.

Good luck!

Thank you and Rich Jenkins and cremaley,
I have an XL, which I really like. The current purchase started with a regular P365 to get something as small as possible. But then I had a look around and fell for the XMacro. Seventeen rounds in that package? Still, the original mission kept popping into my mind, perhaps not as strongly as it should have. So I naturally began to consider how small I could make an XMacro in some best-of-both-worlds prayer.

I’m probably going to grab the XMacro. How could I not? And I might buy the P365 grip to see how that goes. But more likely I will let the XMacro be an XMacro and try to conceal it as much as possible. I might try an Enigma finally.

I understand your dilemma. I started with a P365 standard size with a manual safety. Went to a standard size Wilson Combat grip, the to a Wilson Combat XL grip. About the same time, I traded for a NIB XMacro and bought an XL slide from the Marketplace. I did a bunch of experimenting and ended up with the following:

XMacro comped slide on a WC XL grip module, with MagGuts +2 kit in the 12 round magazine, resulting in a 14+1 capacity. This is the pistol I carry most often in a DeSantis Vanquisher IWB holster.

My XMacro grip sports the XL slide with the longer barrel. When I carry it, it's in a kydex OWB holster.

If I need to carry AIWB, I can always go back to the standard configuration with 10 round magazines. That's the great thing about the P365, you can tailor it to whatever size you desire.

All of the P365 grip modules fit all the P365 slidse, except the macro grip is as long down the slide length as the XL slide and will protrude beyond the standard slide.

I have pocket holsters for each of my slides. If I ever have to use my standard model and it gets taken from me, I can put a short grip on my XL slide and still have a pocket rocket.

I fell for the p365 series hook line and sinker. I said I wouldn’t, but I’m kind of glad I did. This time of year I’m carrying a p365x with WC XL grip module, I also have an xmacro grip module “cut down” to accommodate the p365 slide- short slide w/ full grip. And then I have an xmacro comp with RDS. Those 3 combinations allow me to carry in all of my preferred options. Iwb/AIWB/Fanny pack/backpack/pocket.
Ive considered buying a p365 to have a super small pocket gun but pocket carry is my least favorite option, if I really wanted a pocket gun I’d probably go with a Ruger lcp in 380.

I’ve tried all kinds of different configurations with my 365’s. I have an X and an XL. I picked up a Spectre Comp slide And an extra X slide assembly. I pretty much have settled on an X slide with the 10 round grip and another X slide assembly with the XL grip. I’ve shot about all the different configurations I have and I really don’t feel much difference between the Spectre Comp , the XL and the standard 365. I may shoot the standard 365 the best and I just like the feel of the short slide with either the standard or XL Grip module.

Being a smaller frame person, I feel that I have really found the sweet spot for EDC Concealment. Spectre Comp slide with WCXL grip module and 12 rd flush fit mag and BU 15-17 rd mag. Also paired it with my new Garrett Ind. Silent Thunder "G02 IWB Claw" leather lined Holster (replaced the Fomi clip with DCC Monoblock clip). Also my backup P365X which obviously is equally concealable!

EDC size vs concealability. My take is for concealability but more important is comfort. As other posters have said I have multiple configs of 365. My fav is orig 365, no optic and Gas Pedal Assist. The Gas Pedal Thumb assist makes other factors like weight, sight radius etc, recoil considerably reduced. To me it was designed as a pocket pistol so small is good. Only problem, that is solved with Gas Pedal Assist, is gripping and recoil management. BTW there is also Gas Pedal assist for Macro frame which has different Pic rail than 365

I didn't go with the shortest possible grip, and technically an x/xl grip would be slightly more concealable, but I went with a macro grip chopped down to xl-length to use 12rd magazines. Pro's: it does conceal notably better than the standard macro length (I'm only 5'8 w/ 34in waist), the grip profile w/ medium backstrap and oem curved trigger vs oem flat trigger is as close to perfect length-of-pull as I can ask for, the macro mag release is objectively better than the x/xl mag release without needing to get an aftermarket part (though that's certainly an option), I prefer 1913 rails to Sig's proprietary rail for lights. Con's: gonna be hand-size and shape dependent on whether you get 'the pinch' when doing a mag change, and gotta find someone to do the work. There are two I know of, one a forum member here (RegularJoe58) and the other a redditor (u/GoatNickels)

You can drop an xl or macro upper on an og 365 lower. People also used to chop down g19's to take g26 magazines. The problem you run into is... the grip itself. You will absolutely conceal better with a 1/2" smaller grip length on the regular 365 vs the x/xl 365 grip length, to say nothing of the nearly inch you save comparing the 365 to the macro grip length. Can you shoot it well enough to matter, though? What limitations are imposed by your hand size? I could never make the g43 work* and that frustrated the **** out of me. For clarity, "making it work" for me means reliably ringing an 8" plate at 25m. Wish I could shoot like HonestOutlaw but that ain't me. The xl length, for me, was the smallest I could go while still being able to use the gun to the degree that I wanted to be able to use it. And for me, I needed that little bit of extra circumference from the macro grip over the oem x/xl grip. You may be able to get away with an xl + wilson grip module and be fine, unless you're married to the 1913 rail like I am.

I cut my xmacro grip module down to accommodate the ten round magazine.

Bought an IWB holster for the xmacro that is super comfy and well made, but that won’t work with the standard 365 frame since it’s more narrow and stuff. Plus I tuck my shirts in because I’m an adult (arguably) and that makes it harder to conceal with the longer grip.

She’s not the prettiest thing in the world but I’m still happy with how it turned out. It runs well with the 12 and 17 round magazines too. Looks best with the ten round though I think

Yes there is the Wilson Combat x-macro short grip module that fits that niche.
