Sig P365 XL , I have had the Romeo zero for a while now and still not impressed with the battery replacement. What is a better option for red dot sight for this pistol?

The Sig Romeo XCompact is made for the p365 series, assembled in the USA of US parts except for the circuit board, alloy body, coated glass lens, three reticle settings, side load battery, AND you don't need taller sights if you want to use them as BUIS.

Also, Sig isn't a (C234567) company that was funded by the (C23) government. When you buy an HSun/Huanic, SwaFox, Olite, Feenix, Thrunight, Norinc0 product, all that money goes back to (C2345).

Bustacap,

I have a Sig ROMEOZero Elite and a Holosun 407K X2. Personally, I prefer the 407K to the ROMEOZero Elite ("RZE").

Pros of the 407K:
  • Built like a tank (made from 7075 aluminum vs. polymer body of RZE)
  • 6 MOA dot is noticeably sharper than my 3 MOA RZE (at least to me).
  • Battery life is superior to the RZE.
  • Battery can be replaced without removing the RDS from the gun (not so with RZE).
  • Brightness adjustments are on the side and easy to manipulate (not so with RZE).
  • Windage and elevation adjustments are very tactile, with noticeable clicks (not so with RZE).
  • Installs directly onto the slide of the P365-XL, with no mounting plate required (same as RZE).
Cons of the 407K:
  • Slight amount of distortion in the corners (about the same as other RDS of the same lens size).
  • Made in China (I believe the RZE is too).

NOTE: If you prefer the 32/2 MOA "circle-dot" version over the 6 MOA "dot-only" version, you will want to go with the 507K X2 instead of the 407K X2 (everything else is the same between these two models).

I have a 365X Macro coming with the Romeo X on it. If you get it mounted from the factory, it's $200 less at least at my FFL. So that's $200 for the Romeo X compact...
If you don't mind me asking, what's the average street price you're seeing in shops for the "P365 XMacro XSeries RomeoX" pistol with optic combo from the factory? I'm seeing an average street price of about $949.99

Romeo-X Compact is my top choice for the 365/X/XL. It's designed specifically for the combat-hold co-witness of the factory XRAY iron sights. Assembled in the US. If its anything like the Romeo 4T/4T Pro, then it is all US made parts except for the circuit board which comes from China.

Next choice would be EPS Carry. This won't allow for a full combat-hold co-witness on the 365X but you can aim higher with the irons to compensate. Otherwise just run the dot/circle dot.

There's a new SCS Carry that is coming out but the caveat is it has an internal non-replaceable battery.

I am not a fan of the distortion on the 407k/507k (same level as the RMR) especially given there's almost zero distortion with the Romeo-X and EPS Carry. If we didn't have any choice, then the 407k/507k would be fine.

I read your review on optics earlier this month - very useful. I’ve got an XL that came suppressor height sights and the RZ Elite.
I’m looking into swapping it out - sounds like I might have issues if I drop in a Romeo X compact with my tall sights. Thoughts on the EPS carry with my sights?

I have a Ruger ReadyDot on my P365XL. No batteries to change, no adjustments to make. The 10 MOA circle is visible as long as there is a little bit of ambient light for the fiber optic coil to gather.

I had to look this up. It's interesting, basically same concept as the Meprolight / Trijicon Reflex, original FN P90 HC-14-62 white Ring Sight, and eventually they put that in one of the dual illumination RMR lines (tritium / Fiber).

The main and biggest problem IMHO is shooting at a bright target (or towards outside) while you're in a dark environment where there's not enough light for the fiber optic. This causes the reticle to wash out.

Now when I am outdoors at a range, my RMR 12.9 MOA green triangle fiber sight works fine because of plenty of ambient light. But say I was inside a building and shooting towards outside, it can wash out very easily.

I just installed the Romeo X Compact on my 365 AXG and love it. I like to buy USA made so stay away from many other brands and I certainly pay much more by buying USA.

BTW: you have to be careful when purchasing electronics such as Red Dots on Amazon. Sellers on Amazon are occasionally known to sell counterfeits.
Romeo Zero was junk. Local gun stores couldn't move them even with huge price cuts. I was surprised to see Lena Miculek shill the Rose line with that Romeo Zero optic. Now the Rose version of the Romeo x Compact is out.

I have the Romeo x compact on my 365X. It is not made in the US, not entirely. Circuit board and electronics are from China according to SIG as well as the screws. It's assembled in Oregon.

Only reason I got the Romeo x compact is its low deck height designed for the low irons on the 365. There aren't any 100% US made optics in the RMSc or modified RMSc footprint unfortunately.

For my Shield Plus I went with Vortex Defender, the updated model with a 10 minute shutoff and faster refresh rate. Super low deck height for that slide with perfect cowitnessing when I need it.

I have two Romeo X-Compacts now and no complaints at all- robust & reliable. Euro Optic has them on sale for $319.99.

This is what I have done to my P365X and P365XL. I also added a Tactical Development Proledge magazine base plate that works the MagGuts kit to these modified magazines. The result is two fine carry guns that work really well for me. Here are my thoughts.

First off, this is not a review of some pistol that’s new on the scene and lauded by all of the internet gun gurus as being the best end all of everything that is worth considering for one’s personal protection. It is my own opinion and I just wanted to share it with you again should you be the market for a small, concealable 9mm sidearm on which you can trust your life. Second off, I am not a brand exclusive follower, as I appreciate anything that works as designed and more importantly, works for me in the arena in which I will put it to use. And yes, I know I have written about this little gem before So we have... Subject? The Sig Sauer P365X and P365XL.

These two guns are virtually identical, with the only difference being the barrel and slide length. The P365X has a 3.1 inch barrel whereas the P365XL sports a 3.7 inch pipe. I have one of each and both live in my primary carry stable. I have installed a MagGuts +2 spring kit in one of each gun’s three magazines, which gives me fifteen rounds in a very small package, along with being much easier to load to full capacity.

Both of these guns carry so good, as in pretty much perfection, and are both accurate and so far,100% reliable. They have excellent sights and for me, need no extra add-ons, such as optic sights or lights. And finally, they are pretty, as in beautiful. I mean really damned good looking guns.

So, if you happen to be in the market, or are about to be in the market, do yourself a favor and give some serious consideration for one, or both, of these really fine examples of current small, high capacity carry guns. You will not be sorry.

Back to the subject of red dot sights, I got the Romeo X Compact last week and have had it out a few times, no complaints at all.
No noticeable distortion from the glass like many other brands of RDS. A very clear downrange view. I thought I read where the glass was made by Zeiss.

I have the old XL slide where you lose the rear sight when you take the optic plate off.
The built in fiber optic sight is great, now I again have a rear sight for backup. The side mounted battery provides the low deck height.

I have the Swamp Fox sentinel on my everyday carry Sig 365. I like Swampfox optics and have several including two Justice's that I have put 1000's of rounds through with no problems.
Plus Swampfox has a heck of a discount for First responders and veterans.
I do not like the bottom battery, even though I just changed mine after 2 years and a multimeter showed the battery was still like new.
I am not changing right now but I would probably go Holosun if I had to do it over.
I just bought a 2011 that takes the same size optic and I went way out there and installed the Cyelee Cat X Pro. It has dot, circle, circle dot options and shake awake and side mounted battery. They have coupon codes everywhere and I got it delivered for $188.
It has good reviews but time will tell.
