Poll only, feel free to add discussion, but this thread is generally to answer the question:

Among those who express a preference, for the P365 family (P365, X, XL, Macro, Fuse etc. etc.) do you prefer a manual safety or no manual safety?

If you own more than one, please select the one you prefer.

This poll runs for 6 months???
I felt 6 months was a compromise between a short-run poll which might not allow enough folks to vote, as opposed to one that doesn't close, in which the thread can be topped literally years later.

Hence including "2024" in the title. Someone down the line can revisit this in future, if they choose.

I don't own a P365, but if I were buy one it would have a manual safety. My only pistol without a safety is a Gen 3 G23 that lives by the bed. I won't buy a pistol to carry unless it has a manual safety.

I've been using 1911s for about 20 years, so use of a safety is automatic. If I'm going to move my thumb to activate or deactivate a safety, the lever might as well be there to be moved.

I like a manual safety. I grew up on 1911s so it’s second nature.
that and I pocket carry. That close to my junk I like another level of safety.
In all seriousness though you handle a gun about 100x more than you shoot it if you are a ccw participant. That’s a lot of putting on, taking off, etc. where you are introducing the possibility of a problem. I’ve never understood the argument against the manual safety

I bought one with a MS in 2020 and got my LTC (Lic to Carry in Texas) In the Military I was used to carrying the M9 with a drop down leg holster. I was new to IWB civilian carry. I originally would engage the MS while holstering in my IWB Kydex holster. As soon as the P365 was safely in the holster I would disengage the MS. That's the only time I'd use the MS when reholstering. I wouldn't have to remember to disengage it while drawing. I trained extensively and that plan worked great for about 2 years. That's when I improved my grip and recoil control by gripping the pistol higher along the backstrap rear tang with both thumbs high and forward. I started having issues every now and then accidentally engaging the MS while firing. I didn't want to change my grip that I had trained and was very happy with. And since the only time I was using the MS was when reholstering, I bought a non-MS Grip Module and removed the MS. I always look at my holster and holster very slowly making sure finger off trigger and no shirt or anything else is in the path of the gun entering the holster. I trust my fully covered trigger in my kydex holster. I get the heebie jeebies when I see other guys reholstering as quickly as they draw from the holster and some of them do it without looking.

Both my P365s have no safety. I carry in a leather pocket holster that fully covers the trigger, and I have the discipline to keep my finger out of the bang hole until I'm on target. But what I really want is something the size and capacity of a P365, with the smooth DA/SA trigger and decocker of the classic SIGs. To me, that is a no-compromise balance of speed and safety.
