In another thread a person mentioned that they wouldn’t be interested in the P322 if it was the same size as a P365. So I went and did some side by side pictures. They are very different in size.

Thanks Ken for putting it into perspective.
I've actually been waiting for handgunhero to post a comparison between Taurus TX22 and SIG P322. If you scroll way down, the overlay 'tabletop comparison' is especially helpful. You can vary the opacity.
Must have recently come up:

You can either say it's a P365XL on steroids or a slimmed-down P320. Personally I say it's the former. The grip feels exactly like a P365XL aside from being thicker and longer.

It's not intended to be a compact .22 or a near-clone of some other SIG handgun. It's its own animal. The only thing that really stands out to me is the long grip, but that's simply so it can hold 20 rounds. If it was truly P365XL-sized it'd be maybe a 14-15 shot pistol at most.

You nailed it. The P322 is it’s own animal. It’s not intended to be a carry, so why not have a full size grip?! IMHO, it’s a very comfortable pistol. Too bad every manufacturer chasing “micro” ignores that. I guess it takes a rimfire to go a bit back to what fits. Again, I don’t think it was designed for defense or EDC, so….
Now, before feedback comes hard, yes, there are some fine, comfortable, micro carry pistols! 😎

Thanks, this is very useful to see both side by side.

Are they similar in width? The P365 being a narrow carry gun, I am curious about if the .22 is the same?

I could see where Sig could take this new .22 frame, and adapt the manufacturing process to create a new "P365XXL" model. This would be a P320 sized grip module, but allow someone to drop a P365XL FCU into it. On the other hand it might negatively impact P320 sales, so I dunno...

Good thread.

No they are different width
322: 1.4” - 36mm
365: 1.06” - 27mm
365XL: 1.1” - 28mm
320: 1.3” - 34mm

Keep in mind the 322 is a very different design and gun. There is no need for Sig to use this in any other pistol model. The other models are all FCU styles and can be moved from one grip to another. The 322 is NOT a FCU style design and doesn’t have the ability to move from one grip to another like the 320 or 365.

Honestly, the 322 should have a different model number. It’s so different from a 365 and 320. The present model number just creates confusion.
