I have a couple P227s and like them very much. However, I read on this forum some time ago that the P227 was destined for the rubbish bin of history, mainly due to P220 10 rd mags availability, 14 rd mag unreliability, and weight.

So this morning I was browsing GB due to reports of used police trade-in P227s appearing there. Really surprised to see prices for used pistols ranging from about $950 - 1400.

That's a whole lot of $$$ for pistols no one wants!
I looked on Gun Broker
You seem to be confusing what people are asking for with what they are getting.
The highest priced P227 sale was $805 with anything more than that having ended with 0 bids.
Selling prices don't include the extra hundred or so Gun Broker extorts from buyers.

I think you're correct. It seems that there are multiple 227 sellers out there who have had to re-list their guns multiple times. The one I just bought for $800 (that came with lots of extra goodies) had been re-listed at least half a dozen times. They're just not moving.

I suspect the election results aren't going to help speed up gun sales, either. Maybe we'll see gun prices start to trend down a bit to meet demand. That also might be optimistic thinking lol.

Hard to understand. My P227 is my favorite Sig!

I've already experienced lower prices on the last couple of SIG pistols I purchased.
I found a Sig p239 extremely good shape with a CTC grip for 499.00. Shot very little according to how the barrel looks, hardly a smile.
Also a p320c for 289.00. I believe never been shot except factory testing. Not a mark on it.
T'anks.

No, I was watching and bidding on a nice one yesterday and bid up to $750. It sold for $873.

I agree, I was tempted bid up to $800, but then state tax and shipping would have the final price >$900-ish. Here's the link:

Bought mine new. It's my "lightest" .45ACP at 2lbs 8.4oz, with my SA XDM-45 2oz heavier, and my Colt and Kimber 1911's around 6 oz heavier. But you don't shop weight when you're looking for a .45...at last I don't. The weight of the gun is part of what makes the 227 such a soft shooter. It's the handgun I shoot best, of the 9 handguns I own (2nd best is the Colt XSE). The shapely "sandpaper" grip is a great design--really good for southeast Texas heat and humidity. The P227 DA trigger pull is so good, I find my initial DA shot is just as good as the following SA shots. If I could only keep one of my handguns, that's the one I'd keep. I've not had a problem with my two 14 round extended mags.

^^^^ Mine looks just like yours with the same Hogue piranha grips that I added as well. I was able to buy mine new in the box for $860 a couple of years ago from someone who bought it new and never shot it. Build date was 2014. I only have some 10 round mags. I feel that I got a deal and will not be selling it. I would like to add some of the 14 round mags.
CDNN has them. Here's pics of my P227:

I have both the P220 and P227. The normal capacity for both is fine by me. If it's 14 round mags you want though, last I checked CDNN was selling some.

Speaking only for myself, I dislike extended mags sticking outta the bottom of my grip look. It reminds me of a prolapse on the Dr. Pol show.

🤮 on the pic

I, also, have both, dang accurate, fun shooters. The 227 is a carry, and I really like it.

This was my P227 Elite that I picked up on GB for $785.

I have upgraded it a little. The Cerakote color looked different when I ordered it, but it's growing on me... It's my October Pumpkin gun!

I will have the slide milled for an optic and install suppressor height X-Ray3 sights, I may change the color to something less flashy.

Oh, I also got a P227 Carry slide, (Sadly, I could not find a Carry Elite slide) I will have to have it milled for an optic and Cerakote to match.

I have 10 10-round magazines and 4 14-round magazines, all run flawlessly. The major complaint is that the Grip is fat, but you get used to it. It's not bad.

Thanks for that, bought two more.
