Old ammo = higher pressure?

With the Kentucky Ballistics' .50 cal kaboom that's gone viral on YouTube, I've sen some discussion about nitrocellulose or something in old ammo deteriorating and actually causing a higher pressure situation.

Does anyone have any insight or first hand knowledge of this? I have some older ammo from like the 90's....some Federal 12ga. 'Tactical' and some CCI .380....wondering if I should just toss it and not risk shooting it.

But then I've even read here of folks who have had really old ammo and shot it and it's been fine aside from some which are just duds.

Good info.

Reason being that I recently gave that box of federal 12ga. to a friend who needed it, as was about to do the same with some .380 that I've had since the 90's. So was wondering if I should tell them to just trash it.
