Not Happy With P365 Sights

Is it just me or is anyone else having this issue? My P365 is doing a great job of fulfilling it's intended purpose, but I'm disappointed in the sights. Everyone talks about the bright green front sight, but it's not bright to me unless there is a lot of light to my back. When I look at the front sight in the house it looks almost like a black sight, and when I walk out on my patio and point the gun across my yard it's almost the same thing, unless I turn my back to the sun, and then it turns bright. All of my carry guns have either a fiber optic front sights with a black rear sights, or a gold bead with a black sight. There is no comparison between those sights as the others pick much more ambient light than the P365 sight. While shooting at my indoor range my green front sight almost turns black. I'm thinking about changing to a FO on this gun also. By the way, I've never been a fan of night sights either. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks

The Sig sights work well on my P320, but not on the shorter barrel. The front sight is only bright enough for very dark lighting. It is too wide to be able to see space on either side when lined up with the rear sight. My older eyes make it difficult to focus on the front sight. I changed it out for a set of Trijons which work much better. The front sight is narrower than the factory sights and much brighter.

IMO P365 should be considered a point shoot pistol, not a target pistol, rendering fine target sighting somewhat irrelevant. That being said, I have no difficulty placing the bright green front ring on my target and aligning the blacked out rears. The tritium vials are bright enough for dim light.

I think it’s really a matter of personal preference as well as environment. I didn’t like the X-ray 3 sights initially, but I’ve come around. I had put Trijicon HD and then XS standard dots on a G43. When I got a 365 I think I went XS standard, sig lite, Tritium fiber optic front and now back to the X-rays. Rear sig lite and front TFO was a good combination for me lighting dependent.
@shooter1911 I’ve probably got most of those collecting dust in a parts drawer still, send me a pm if you’d like any of them for cheap.

The front sight on my brand new P365 was non-functional. Shame on me for not checking it in low light at the shop before I bought it.

Regardless, a quick call to Sig resulted in a pre-paid label and returned it. Week or so later, slide returned with new front sight. Bright green now.

Might want to call Customer Service.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this Dawson front and rear sight on their P365, and if so is it really a plug and play type of arrangement or does some fitting need to be done.

OP - you said you never were a fan of "night sights" - but have you evaluated them (the good ones)? I looked at FO and tritium nights sights, and chose tritium (either trijicon HD or night fision) front sights (I prefer the yellow color - works well in light and low light - again, for me). Just thought I'd ask

Actually I did look long and hard at Trijicon HD when they were introduced, but at the time I couldn't buy the front sight only, which is what I like with a black rear sight. For some reason they only sold them in a set of front and rear sites. I'll check to see if that's changed. I have not looked at fision, but I will take a look, thanks.

I was using the Dawsons for awhile, and they give a decent sight picture in okay light. I did have trouble keeping the sight tubes in; may have been the abrupt slide movement, or it may have been how I was heating the tubes.
But I'd had the original SIG night sights; the current X-rays are a huge improvement.
OTOH, in the process of swapping around sights, put a white dot front on the P365 (all SIG sights interchange), and that works well too.

As above, the stock XRAY3's are a bit dim. You can try and contact Sig and send some pictures for evaluation, but green is, well, green. Sometimes I think most folks would be better off with regular white three dot steel sights.

I'd look at Dawson, Ameriglo or Trijicon. Haven't had a set of Trijicons for a while. The last set I had was on an M&P, but the rear sight was so stabby it ate through clothes. I don't know if they've addressed that. The Dawson FOs are a good option. I've owned several and they are very good outdoors, but on an indoor square range they are as black as a set of black steel sights. I put a Dawson FO on my 1911 because it is a range gun for outdoor matches (bowling pins) in the summer.

For general use, and it it is an option for the pistol, I vastly prefer Ameriglos. I'm partial to the model with the tritium lamp and bright orange ring. I had any number of these on my Glocks and really picked them up well.

All dovetail sights are probably going to require fitting and either a good hand/bit of experience to install or a decent sight pusher.

I have a CZ P-01 with TruGlo TFX sights. Fiber plus illumination and a green dot up front. I shoot X-Ray3 sights on a P365 9mm decently but horribly on the P365 .380acp (which has white dot night sites).
I put the same model of TruGlo TFX sights on the P365-380 and my accuracy improved.
I don't do well with 3 dot sights. I learned on the lollipop ( or "i") style sights and never liked the 3 dots. I do well with the green front sight and the blacked-out rear sight that are on the P320 X-Five Legion and on my CZ Shadow 2. I do really like the Dawson sights on the X-Five.
Sights are personal and that the sights that I do well with changes as my eyes change. It takes money, time, and patience for me to find the best sights at different ages. Learning to swap sights is a good thing for a gun enthusiast to do.
Thanks for your experience. Though it doesn't match mine, it shows a process for finding good sights for a shooter and many of the options.

On mine the X-ray3 sights were used long enough to verify POI and then swapped out.
The 226 got swapped out for Trijicon HDXR sights, orange front, U notch rear with no color around the tritium.
The 365 has an XS DXT2 big dot with an orange front.

I'm not so much concerned with having the tritium as I am with actually being able to see the front sight under normal lighting conditions.
I'd be good without spending more for a feature I don't use, but not many have that option.

I have always used a 6:00 hold so I replaced the sights on my first P-365 with taller orange Speed Sights and have found them much faster to get on target. My newest 365 is an XL and still has the X-ray sights I'm getting used to the stock sights but I still find the smaller 365 more accurate. My plan is to install a Holosun 507 green sight on the XL.

With my street glasses on (tri-focals) I couldn’t see the stock, X-ray sights either, and I didn’t like that the gun printed low, compared to every other pistol I own. I really like fiber optic sights on my competition guns but I think they are too long for the 365. I didn’t want to make the sight radius any shorter so I put on a set of Trijicon HDs with a #8 front, in yellow, and a #6 rear. I can see them with my street glasses and even though they’re huge compared to the fiber optic sights, I can hold a 3” group at 25 yards, when I do my part and at the last IDPA bug match I used it and actually won the match against shooters that I never usually beat.

Installed an Ameriglo Tritium/Orange front sight on my P365X. Much happier with this color for me. The front really pops now.

At first I over did the aluminum punch I ordered from Dawson, and had to dress the end with the file. I also made a couple nicks in the steel, so I dressed them up after with some cold blue. Turned out ok I think, the new sight feels about as tight as the one I pressed out, despite fitting it by hand.

I ordered mine directly from Ameriglo too. I used a punch with a padded tip to knock the old sight out, and tapped in the front sight with the same padded punch. Point of aim is exactly the same. Ameriglo offers a number of heights and widths, but I ordered the one that is the Sig Sight labeled SG-212-220-O. Hmmm, it looks like I ordered the #8 there, not the #6. In any case, the place to start is to replace the Sig #6 or #8 that you have with the same from Ameriglo.
