As much as it pains me, I don't see a need for them to keep the P229 in the lineup with this change. Sig's specs on the new product page on their site shows that the new XCarry is 5.25" tall. That's shorter than the current P229 and P226. It does look like they took a little height off the slide compared to the current models to achieve that, though I would like to see a side-by-side comparison to confirm. The changes to the slide don't seem to account for a full 1/4" cut in height.

I thought the same thing, but I hope not.
When I was recently comparing da/sa, one comparison I was making was the CZ shadow 2 carry and the P01, with thoughts to cajunize the latter. Very soon after the recent S2 carry release, the P01’s actually went up in price by several hundred dollars.
I may be drawing an irrelevant comparison here, though…

If I were going to replace my P229 (which at this time is unlikely), I would probably buy a Dan Wesson optic ready DWX Compact rather than a P226 Legion X-Carry.
My exact same thoughts but knowing me, I'd probably burn the wallet by getting both of them (...& keep the P229 Legion SAO).

P226 X-Carry Legion… Does this mean the P229 Legion is on the verge of extinction?

My guess would be no I think there is still a market for the shorter grip (15rd). However, I could be wrong - I have been before. At least I hope the 229 stays
