I'll be an outlier and throw out the KelTec P3AT. Sure, it's ugly. Sure, the 'quality' of the finish is crappy. Sure it's cheap. But it goes bang.

My brother had one in his pocket during a 40 MPH laydown of his Gold Wing. It saved his leg from the asphalt and the grip was half gone with major scrapes on the frame and slide. It didn't 'go off.' Unloaded it and later tested it. Still worked, and fired without issue.

Ever since you landed that 2 tone P239 you've been torturing me with photos! Been looking for the right 2 tone P239 for a lonnnnng time. Last week finally found one. Should be arriving at my FFL next week. For now, I’ll just keep starring at your photos 😆
And yet you torture me with all of these outstanding deals that you somehow find! I can’t wait to see your latest. Probably another pawn shop find...😂

Walther PPS. I still CCW mine almost daily. 7+1 seems paltry capacity these days but the PPS is a well built, very thin, extremely accurate, and robust pistol with an internal steel subframe. For me it is an excellent soft shooter even with HST 147 +P. Bottom picture compares thickness to my Glock 19. Target is typical range day with the PPS at 7 yards shooting at causual speed and not for maximum accuracy. Middle target dot shows what I can do with the PPS if I shoot slow for maximum accuracy where the middle cluster of 6 shots just above red center dot is seen.

J-frames.
I find them hard to aim. For some reason pocket autos work better for me. I have carried .38 snubs. .357's, and even had a titanium .41 mag at one point. I agree with you though, they are simple and WORK. That's usually most important to me. I just get caught up in the ballistics.. The only revolver I own anymore is a 9mm.. oh here.. I wasn't paying attention to myself as usual.. Need a jframe 9mm.. Still.. aiming them.. eh... what am I doing wrong. I did pretty decent with an old P229 .357 this morning. Not sure why I suck with revolvers so much. Only revolvers I was ever good at shooting were two single actions.

We're not talking about guns that are unappreciated. We're talking about guns that are underrated.
I read through the entire thread and came up with the same thoughts as you! The only opinion I have directly related to the original question is this....Bersa Thunder Pro Ultra Compact 9! Very well-built, very accurate, very reliable, reasonable capacity. Manufactured in Argentina for police and military, usually in 40 caliber full size for their use but not for export.( maybe that has changed I don't know). I picked one up several years ago used at a pawn shop for the wife, she didn't like it, didn't fit her hand, and thought it had too many levers and buttons! She then proceeded to confiscate my 357 J frame, I sold the Bersa because I will not carry or own anything smaller than. 357sig! (.22 plinkers not counting). I strongly feel that that little Bersa Fits the original question very accurately! Underrated overlooked and unappreciated!
