Latest 'budget' build, based on an MK18 MOD 0, on an already-existing SBR'd lower. Been wanting to do one of these for a while.

I suggest loosing the VFG. Worthless/hinderance.
I'm actually a big proponent of VFG's. But I use a 'c-clamp' grip so it's more of a wedge/hand-stop than a 'lollipop' grip. That's why I went with a shorter one rather than that long 'broomhandle' type. Gives me consistent placement as well as some extra leverage pulling back. I have some version of it on all my rifles.

Well this was essentially just an upper, as I had the silencer and lower already, just added the B5 stock and switched to straight triggerguard. But I think this will primarily live like this. Just love the look of the earliest MK18, was never really interested in the later one with the DD rail, etc.

I was contemplating doing a 'Gordon Carbine' with the carry handle upper et al, but it would have been a bit too involved and costly, finding a similar suppressor, etc. Plus I'd want to paint the whole thing and I wanted to at least leave things black so I could still switch uppers and have it uniform.

In my stupid state (as in location ;)), I'm now limited to the AR lowers I currently have, so I can't just buy a new one to dedicate to just one build.

Nice, the real deal. I might look into getting the fixed rear sight too, but I prefer one that folds away altogether, and mine is obviously more of an 'inspired by' than anything approaching a clone. I really dig clone builds but they require dedication as well as $$. So if I put more 'correct' parts on, the differences become even more glaring like the rail and covers, the manufacturers, and especially the can and optic.

But the fact that you have an actual one is the bees knees.

Thanks...was weighing between an Aimpoint PRO, ACO and this. In terms of price and battery life, went with the Romeo7 even though it's quite heavy. But it essentially looks like an Aimpoint Comp M4. She's a heffer, though! Between the front sight base, rail, suppressor and muzzle device attachment, and the Romeo7...

This is a 10.3" with the same suppressor, considerably lighter and more wieldy but i just love the look/aesthetics of the front-sighted, quad-railed CQBR.

Man I need to get a supressor... I really have no excuse given the current wait times
Yeah but the thing is they're sold out everywhere.

Edit: actually, they've started coming back. Been looking into a short can for 5.56, just have to save up some more.

Minor update/addition: just a Matech folding rear sight. I tried a UTG fixed A2 but wasn't crazy about it, and didn't want to spend on a Knights so used a coupon I had for a Matech. Just adds to the vibe over the standard Magpul BUIS rear.
