P229 help

Hi guys, new to the forum. Have been reading this thread and trying to figure out when my sig p229 was made. Its a non-railed model and the serial# is AL 83 xxx. The frame is marked with both the Exeter, NH and made in Germany. However, I cant find any markings on the slide. But it is a short serrations version. I'm asking because I want to know which 9mm exchange kit to buy as i is a .40 cal now. Also if I needed to replace any parts the date may help. Thanks in advance for the help

The place I normally check leaves that one out for some reason... They must know on the page I use... Sorry...

Any help?
from sigforum: not every sig sold nor manufactured is listed, only those owners who provided the info & the list hasn't been updated in quite some time.

interpolation is required, yours from around 2003.

Thanks RELIABLE, I've just bought an old West German made P226. According to the chart it was made in 1987 (JH) SN U157 866. I'm so lucky that my friend offered it to me first up & I did not haggle too much on the price because the gun is in excellent working order. It looks like he would have fired no more than 500 rounds (he claims he fired no more than 300rds) , he has a collection of a handful of Colt 1911s Guns cost nearly double in the Philippines than in the USA, A BRAND NEW P226 Nitron would cost around $1,850 so getting this one for $700 seemed to me a reasonable buy because of it's condition.

Per the collection of serial numbers on SigForum, that SN does fall right in with 1987.

I always thought this thread was about dating Sigs. Now that I want to take her on a date, I open it up for tips and find out that the thread is about guessing her age instead.

Very disappointed.

I would like to know about the first 3 digits of the SN after the letter. Such as the P220 9mm model G 100 xxx. HG date code is 1976 I believe. My question is if the 100 is the earliest production run and last 3 digits indicate actual sequence of production? I have had a few SIG SAUER P220 model West German and never have I seen any number less then 100 as in this example. G 100 xxx

I do appreciate any information regarding the dating of this 9mm P220 round slide, smooth curved trigger and stamped on lower left front of slide is seal of Canton of Switzerland. This particular P220 9mm is G 100 6xx anyone know approximately how many were assembled in 1976 or in the first run in Germany?

Thanks to all in advance

Something is wrong?

If you are correct in the numbers being the date of the manufacture of the hand gun, something is wrong with my hand gun. According to your information, my hand gun, with the letters KD, would indicate that my gun was manufactured in 1993. My sales receipt says I bought the pistol in Sept. of 1992. I've never let my pistol out of my sight so now I'm confused. O well, it's a keeper and I will never sell the pistol, it's more reliable then my wife.

Was out picking up diesel for my tractor this AM and stopped by my small local gun store. Had not been there in a couple of months. He had a couple of the new Legions in stock. In his used section he had a KE (94) U 525 XXX NIB W. German P226. Box, manual, test target, (tester was A. Jensen) 2 mags. $439.00. I nearly broke my arm getting my wallet out. I would have paid that for one with some wear and tear.

Pretty happy finding it. Probably will not shoot it. :D
