The new HK cc9- made in the USA! It has a Modular FCU, American style (button) magazine release, and it has a trigger dingus drop safety. It's a hair taller and longer than the p365, but about the same width:

I would never discount H&K... the refinements of their firearms are much more than skin deep, and the construction quality of every one I've owned and handled is top notch.

I'm quite surprised by the lower retail price point of this model.

Introduction on a modular chassis implies that this is the first of a family of models as well... Quite interesting...

I know some of the master gunsmiths from Oberndorf am Neckar, and they literally obsess on the design of these firearms. This one came from H&K USA. Companies that make firearms are a balance between engineering, marketing and manufacturing engineering divisions. The engineers design the firearms, the marketing people determine how to sell them and the manufacturing engineering people figure out how to make them efficiently. In H&K, the design engineers seem to dominate that balance more than in other firearm companies.

Watch the video in post #2 of this thread to understand some of the refinement of this micro pistol's design engineering.

I look forward to evaluating one of these soon.

Too late, too crowded of a market,
This was my first thought when I learned about their plan to come out with a Micro-9 i.e. day late and a dollar short. But agree that it is likely going to be an excellent addition to the market for consumers.

That would indeed be interesting. This is why, imo, Sig is the current king of the Micro-9 hill. They offer a variety of P365 models to choose from so they fit a lot of needs from smallest footprint up to service size. If HK does the same they may capture additional market share. Not necessarily from Sig but I could see them taking a slice away from S&W, Ruger and Taurus.

I'm very satisfied with my X and XL and I'm interested in the larger models. But I'd take a look at the HK down the road perhaps, at least to have some firsthand experience with it. I very much like my P30 and USPc!

If you Google P365 malfunctions, there are a ton of videos showing all sorts of extraction and ejection issues. HK, on the other hand, is famous for their rugged design and dependability. IMO, there is nothing more important than reliability for your self defense gun. If I were the CEO of HK, I would have designed the CC9 to be:
(a) a DA/SA gun, and
(b) compatible with Sig P365 magazines, so as to steal the P365 market share more effectively :)

As a Sig fan boy, I am open to buy a CC9 later, after they have all the issues sorted out.

I think the day late and a dollar short thing certainly applies here. When your the last one to the table you really need to bring something special to get noticed and I don’t think they did. It’s bigger than some of the others, holds the same amount of rounds WHILE being bigger and doesn’t bring anything new to stand out. On top of that it may be the most expensive one in the category? It also doesn’t help that it looks like a Taurus either.

With that said I do think they will have some success with it once the teething issue are resolved. HK fans will be the majority of the buyers I think, new gun owners will most likely go for less expensive options. People like me that are already owners of competitive guns in the market are less likely to buy another gun that they don’t need and does the same thing.

It will be interesting to see if they try to expand into different models like Sig has done with the 365 but that will probably depend on how successful it is.

For me, this new HK cc9 moves into the number three spot right behind the CZ p10s and p365, but I was never a fan of the other micro and sub-compacts from Glock, Walther, Beretta, S&W.

I'll probably buy one because it's an HK and modular- but only if I get a free hat, T-shirt, or pinup calendar. :ROFLMAO:

I like it. I think it will sell well. Maybe not like hotcakes, but it’s possible HK’s positioned it to be a gateway drug to the rest of the line.

RMSc footprint.
1/4” trigger travel (same as VP9)
5# trigger press
Tritium front sight
4.60” (10 round) / 4.92” (12 round) height
6.03” length
3.3” barrel
<1” width

Some comparison numbers:

P365 / P365X
RMSc footprint
3/8”? trigger travel
5.0-5.5# trigger press (varies)
Tritium front sight
4.3” (P365) 4.80” (P365X) height
5.8” (P365) 6.0” (P365X) length
3.1” barrel
1.1” width

I’ve been waiting for this gun for years. I’ll finally jump into the micro 9 craze that’s dying out lol. The P365 is just too small. The distance from the front strap to the backstrap just doesn’t work for me and the LoP sucked because of that. This has a more normal sized grip while still being 0.99” wide. Lots of testing went into this gun too. I know this is a SIG forum but I trust my HKs above all else. Hopefully this new American HK lives up to German HKs standards. Only negative thing I have to say about it is no paddle release sucks and it doesn’t have that Sexy HK look. Neither of those things is going to keep me from picking one up though.

I would be a bit concerned about the external exposure of the rear of the trigger safety. Is the potential for interference with the lever to stud interface necessary? It's probably nothing, but still...

There must have been an interesting design dance to avoid patent infringement on existing designs for the removable chassis. James, in his video, discusses the need for the chassis to establish a robust and rigid internal frame for the more delicate and smaller parts that have to be used to fit in the much thinner profile of this pistol.

You know that's necessary when you look at the issues people have had with the "EZ series" S&W pistols (with very thin complex levers internal to polymer framed pistols). I observed multiple students with new "EZ Series" pistols that jammed upon first shooting use.

I don't think H&K chases the volume marketplace with their products, especially if you compare their price-points to competition. The Turkish import products and most of the US made carry pistols, including SIG products, are well below these prices. Their strategy is quite different.

I was issued an H&K USP .40 caliber with Law Enforce Modification from TSA when I was a Captain at AA. I did not like that gun at all, and the magazines issued were terrible with the end plates coming off when dropped on the concrete deck during training. Two friend‘s guns broke and had to be replaced. I am no fan at all of H&K. TSA now issues Glocks to airline FFDOs. Federal Air Marshals are issued Sig .357 pistols.

My EDC guns are two Sigs, P365 XL & P365 X.
