The only P226 magazine with that capacity that I am aware of is the Promag and they are a waste of money.

 

As mentioned above, the Mec-Gar 20 round Magazines are a best buy. They work in all my P226 pistols and they are a good deal. Stay away from Promag. Not sure why you want mags > 30 rounds but the Mec-Gar 20 round Magazines are the highest capacity I would look at.

 

I agree with Willard, yellowlt7 and whip.

 

If you want that many rounds get an AR.

 

My thoughts exactly! I have two AR pistols. One chambered in 5.56 with an 11 inch barrel and the other chambered in 300 blackout with an 8 inch barrel. CQB machines for that scheisse hits the fan situation !

 

Other than Made In Italy “Italian” SIG factory magazines (they are SIG-marked MecGars), the 20-rd. MecGar magazines are the only ones to spend money on.
Until recently, your ideal Home Defense pistol would have been a suppressed AR pistol or similar in 5.56 or .300 BO with a Surefire weapon light and a RDS and a couple of 30-rd. Magazines clipped together…now it’s an SBR… Hopefully, you live where that was/is an option.

 

Wait, so SIG factory magazines are just a private label Mecgar? Why the mark up?

 

Why not just have a couple spares on hand and practice your reloads?

 

I use a mag extension from Taylor Freelance that adds 5 rounds of 9mm to an 18 round MegGar mag. It has worked perfectly. The extension will fit a few other mags, also.
It is my night stand mag. Since I bought just one extension and it has a special purpose I figured it was worth the cost.

As mentioned above Mecgar 18 or 20 round mags have a proven track record.

 

+1 on the MecGar 18's. (don't have any of the 20's)

 

I have used the MecGar 18s, for a decade or longer, and can’t recall a single failure. Half dozen magazines, used in 5 or six different 226s.

 

I use the 20rnd mec-gar mags every week in my pistol league, 100% reliability.

MecGar is the way to go.

 

That is one place that Glock beats Sig -- the 30+ round, factory, 9mm mags.
Sig does have a dependable 30 round mag for the P320 9mm family. They work well but are really cumbersome, IMHO.

 

Where Glock has most other pistols beat are the price of the magazines. I can't stomach the cost of non-Glock magazines. It is eye watering.

 

Try this...

Why settle for a high capacity magazine when you can just use Solid Snake's Bandana from the "MGS Series"? It'll grant Infinite Ammo, and not just for Mk.23's. (j/k)

Stick with MecGar or "factory" SIG mags w/ ext base plate for the P226. Don't trust a HD pistol with anything less.

 

Find yourself a couple of X-Five Open mags, they hold 25.

I have a 30 round mag. I use it in my vise and put the gun on it to work on the gun. It hangs way out the bottom of the grip. I have the MecGar 20 round mags also and they work flawless.

 

This is actually a pretty good idea. I’d be tempted to fill the mag with epoxy or fiberglass resin …but I bet it’s great for use in a vice.

 

Maybe try a Pro Mag and see if you like it first? I bought an expensive 30 round factory mag for a Beretta 92 back in the day. It seemed like such a great idea until I tried it. It is heavy, unwieldy, catches on stuff, and throws off the pistol balance. Luckily, I have a PCC that it fits and is fun to shoot with that mag. However, I would never use it anywhere but a shooting range.

Try before you buy.

 

For my bedside P226 Extreme I use a black base Sig X5 20rnd mag. 100% reliable and fits the gun well.

$50 is expensive for one magazine.

Not one person mentions the PX9 mags at 30$ for 20 rds also made in Italy lol ..and the check mate 19 rd mags all run great and take the plus5 base plates
