Help needed in understanding the E2 grip

I recently purchased a 225 classic carry because of its’ smaller grip size.

With small hands the p22x series with a width of 1.5 inches is ok, but I would never be comfortable with that grip size.

Is the E2 grip an option? Can an E2 kit be used on all similar size 226’s?

I have the Signess and would really like a 226 for HD and the range.

Other options?

The E2 grip is available for the P220, P226 and P229 models. The P229 kit will also fit the P228. This is an extremely thin grip design and may require the replacement of the hammer strut, hammer strut spring and spring perch on older models. The texture of the grip is similar to but not quite as aggressive as skateboard tape, providing a good purchase on the pistol.

As far as a size comparison, I have a P6/P225 model fitted with Hogue Piranha grips. These grips are slightly thinner than the OEM grip panels, but not meaningfully so. I also have a P228 which has been retrofitted with the new style hammer strut/spring parts as mentioned above, so that the E2 grip could be installed. Side by side, the width of the P6 and P228 grips is virtually identical. So, it is possible to have a double stack P228,or P229 with virtually the same grip size as the P6/P225. With the new Mec Gar 15-round magazines, this makes for a very compelling setup for carry.

EDIT:
So far as trigger reach goes, my P228 fitted with the Sig Short Reach Trigger is easier to reach than the P6 with the standard OEM trigger. If you are index finger challenged, as I am, another modification well worth it is a special bushing that Robert Burke can fit to your action, which will eliminate all of the DA trigger takeup.

I should also mention that the P226, P228 and P229 grips differ only in length, as the P226 holds a couple more rounds.

I just finished replacing the standard plastic grips on my P226 with the E2 grips. The kit comes with a replacement spring perch, spring strut and de-cocking lever.
a simple and easy change for a smaller and more aggressive set of grips.
Optics Planet offers the kit which has all the above and the installation / removal tool for $59.99 & free shipping.

I don't have a P220 handy, that I can quickly slap a caliper onto, but IIRC, the depth of the P220 grip is longer than the 9mm models, in order to accommodate the taller .45 ACP round. So, in spite of the P220 being a thin-ish single stack design, there is still a considerable reach to the trigger, for those among us who are index finger challenged.

That said, no doubt installing a thin E2 grip would help with the trigger reach, by straightening the path to the trigger. That and installing the Short Reach Trigger is generally all that any adult needs in order to comfortably operate the P22x DA/SA Sigs. In my particular case, having the Sig Armorer remove the DA takeup from my Sigs, was positively the best money I ever spent on a firearm.

I own a P226 with an E2 grip and short trigger and several P226s with standard grips.

It definitely feels smaller than a standard grip P226. Not necessarily better, but smaller. The E2 is a great option for those with smaller hands or those who prefer a smaller grip and shorter trigger reach. It borders almost on being too small for me.

you could also try G10's

I was going to try the E2 and still might someday. FWIW, I purchased some G10 grips checkered and they made a big difference. The side panels are slimmer and the back strap is more straight. I have small hands and this helps a lot. Wouldn't it be nice if Sig made a 229 frame with a longer 226 slide on it.
