Help needed in understanding the E2 grip

I put E2 grips on my M11A1 (P229), felt good initially. After about a year I noticed that they became a little loose, they don't use screws to hold them on. I then replaced them with Hogue G10.

I think if I had a way to tighten them down I would have kept them.
