Guns you don’t like but shoot well

I recently purchased a S&W Bodyguard 2.0, and was impressed enough with it that I decided I needed to try a regular M&P, which I had never before shot. So I bought a 2.0 Compact, and really don’t like anything about it. The grip shape feels weird, I don’t like how narrow the top of the slide is, and I hate dry firing that spongy trigger. I vastly prefer my P320c - until I take them both to the range and shoot the M&P SO MUCH BETTER, like my groups are half the size they are with the P320, and actually about as good as my custom CZ competition guns.

I hate to complain about a gun that shoots well, but I’m wondering if any of you have had a similar experience.

Every time i look at a Glock, any glock i cringe......
they feel like a brick in my hand...nothing is intuitive & they are just plain ugly.....:eyes:
That said, when i shot my fathers several years ago (cant remember what model) i shot it much better than my sigs.....
I have no idea why, maybe someday, i might just have to add one to the herd & see if i get the same results?:groupwave:

I’ve never shot a Glock well, except the 43 I had for about 18 months when they first came out. No idea why I shot it so much better than the 19 I also had.

Beretta 92FS. Used to be the standard sidearm in the navy and I hated shooting it due to its brick-like grips. I still shot it good enough to earn pistol Expert Markmanship medal 😁.

What I do like the most is shooting the deck-mounted 25mm gun like this one.

I still have some of the casings and belt I shot 20 years ago.

The opposite example is the Ruger RXM I recently purchased and loved everything about it- except how it shot. I guess Ruger copied GLOCK's crappy trigger too well. But it ended up turning out just fine...

Since I won't carry a self-defense tool with a non-OEM trigger, I traded the RXM in on a CZ P-09C Nocturne- which I shoot very well.

So, the moral of this story is: if your galling/gritty striker-fired trigger is affecting accuracy- get a hammer-fired pistol...

Reverse of the question...
P365 I like, but don't shoot well. Not as well as many others. I'm going back to a g26. The 365 is okay, but my groups are inconsistent. Love it's size though.

This is is twelve rounds at ten yards as fast as I can get on target.

How much worse is the P365? Rapid fire into a 4” box at 10 yards should be good enough with any carry gun.

On the other hand: I could write a long list of guns that I liked - even thought I loved - but could not shoot well -not even half way decently. In a couple cases I swear the gun hated me because others could shoot it just fine.

Now the ones I have are the ones I like and shoot well. I'm too old to continue the "buy it, try it, take it and put it on consignment" routine anymore.

Happens to the best of us Sister! I don't buy to 'Try' either and as far as my most recent purchase of a LE trade-in of a P226 DAK S&W 40cal Sig, it doesn't 'buck' anymore than my 4" Ruger Security 6 357Mag. I'm fine with that, as I am with 12ga in all its forms. I'm not about to add another SG gage since I've already got 5K of various 12 ga, that I shoot & handle just fine. BTW, when I do shoot the 'Heavy' 12ga rounds at the range (in MY AZ Desert), My shooting vest IS padded for my R/H shooting. IF in a HD situation, shooting my 12 gage's? Yes, I'd expect some bruising. H3ll, I've been kicked by horses, Mules & donkeys, a dang 12ga doesn't even register on the pain scale. Yes, it hurts, but since I was a kid, the saying, 'Cowboy UP', IS the rule of the day & life!

I can't honestly say that I own firearms I 'Don't' Like. Yes, I shoot some better than others but that's just range/practice/ shooting time w/each gun. Rifle, pistol or shotgun, one cannot expect to be equally proficient unless equal practice time. But being an Old Fart, if I can still put 7 out of 10 rounds inside an 8" circle @ 15yds (45'), I'm GOOD to go!

BTW, My S&W 1.0 Bodyguard 380 w/CT Laser, is the smallest pistol I own, and after a couple of simple mods to the feed ramp, and mod to the 'Promag' 10/15 round mags, it shoots just fine, and is as reliable as ANY pistol I own, including my Sigs.

I'm not a striker fired guy at all. But I have a Canik TP9SFX that I cant get rid of. Its the best shooting gun, meaning most accurate gun I ever shot. I got it used so I dont know if has had any work done to it.
Like a CZ PCR I got years ago. Took it to a range with my P226 Legion, and it shot circles around the Sig. Another used gun, so I dont know if perhaps Cajun had a hand in it-lol.

I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk 10" Silhouette Model .44mag. I picked it up in a gun show trade. I'm not a big fan of single action style guns at all but I could really shoot it well. It became my main deer gun for several years. And in the summer I shot it in NRA Silhouette (25-50-75-100yrds) and International Silhouettes (50-100-150-200 meters). I did really well with it.

But I never really cared for the gun ... I didn't care for the grip or feel of the gun at all. Once I picked up an 8" S&W 629 Classic Hunter the Ruger was traded off. I could shoot it ... I just didn't like it.

I bought a CZ P10C based on online reviews. It shoots well, fits my hand well, and by all logic, I should love it, but I don't. That is mostly due to the fact that I shattered my right elbow almost a year ago and still have nerve damage in my hand which causes a lot of pain. The CZ's recoil is sharper than my P229 or my Canik TP9SFX, and my hand hurts to much to continue after a couple of magazines. Similarly, the trigger safety is sharp and doesn't compress flush with the trigger, so it bites into my finger as the slide slams forward. These things are minor and wouldn't bother most people, but the nerve damage amplifies them enough that I don't enjoy shooting it. The surgeon said it would take 18 months for the nerves to heal, at least as much as they are going to, so the CZ is in storage for now, hoping it will be better this summer.

I love my 2.0 Compact. Easy to conceal, more reliable than a Glock with a better trigger out of the box (let the Glock fan screeching begin), not a single problem with any ammo I've run through it. I genuinely like the grip shape and angle and personally like the slide aesthetics.
Not arguing just stating a relevant fact that the BG2.0 simply hasn’t been on the market long enough to compare it to anything, let alone a gun that has several decades of proven reliability.
