Gas Pedal: I've changed my mind

I was all excited about "gas pedals." as they seemed to provide a natural place to rest my support hand thumb. But after upgrading my P229 and P226, I've decided to go back to the original take-down lever, as the Gas Pedal makes holstering more difficult, with one exception. The P226 X-Five Legion holster is the only holster designed to accommodate the "factory installed" gas pedal.

I'm just saying as a word of caution, that while the gas pedal option works fine in the field, it is not a necessity, and makes holster fitment a real pain.

I've never found a reason for a "Gas Pedal" ... I don't hold a gun like that. My grip is too old and too ingrained to change now. My left (weak side) hand is too low to ever get my thumb that high on the side of the gun. When you've been doing something one way for 45-50 years, change doesn't come easy.

I should have talked to you first, before I spent money on a whole bunch of gas pedals. I tried the New grip style with my thumb resting on the gas pedal at Prairie Fire, and thought, "wow, maybe I need to change with the times." But sometimes the old tried and true methods remain the best option. Oh well. I'm out just under 2 bills, and a valuable lesson learned.

Good luck finding a gas pedal holster for your P226 or P229. There are quite a few holster manufacturers that list gas pedal holsters for the P320 and the P365. I'm sure you can find one out there to meet your desires. If nothing else, you many have a local holster manufacturer working out of his/her garage that can make the holster for you.

I shoot revolvers as well as autos, and have been down the road with different grips, including the index-on-the-triggerguard, that has led us to ugly guns, with a right angle TG.
Not a low speed/high drag guy, in any case. It won't be forever that MFGs put gas pedals on standard pistols, and we'll be saying, "what in hell is that for?"

Have you tried one of the Armory Craft Sport Takedown Lever (for the P250 or P320)? I never did like it when Sig changed from their original takedown lever on the P250 and moved to the flat takedown lever they use on the P320. However, Armory Craft has a great takedown lever that is even better than the original Sig takedown lever. For me, it takes the place of the gas pedal (yeah, I tried one of those) but will fit in any holster designed for either the P250 or the P320. And it will work for you just like the gas pedal (but without the need for a special holster).

The problem is getting holsters. You can find Kydex, but those of us who like leather are not as successful. I have the Icarus grip module that you show in your photo, and there are a bunch of Kydex holster makers who make holster for it. Icarus also makes an ACE 365 AXG Macro grip module that no one makes holster for, either Kydex or leather. I've made a post asking if anyone knows of a holster manufacturer that makes one for that Icarus grip module. So far, no responses. And none of the holster makers that Icarus lists on their website make a holster for it, either. If you look at the photo that I posted in my posting, you can see that the muzzle end of the ACE 365 AXG Macro grip module is taller than the Icarus grip module in your photo (my photo shows both of them together from the muzzle end). I am going to end up going to one of our local leather holster makers to get the custom holster made.

Nice! Yours appears to not have the same issue my AXG module does. Here are photos of my ACE 365 AXG Macro. The second photo shows a front-on comparison of the AXG module with the Icarus ACE 365 XMacro module. Note the difference in height of the front of the AXG module. If you compare it to yours, you can see the obvious difference in height. That is why it won't fit in any of my XMacro holsters. So, I guess I need to contact Icarus directly and ask how they plan on fixing the problem with my module.
