Fully agree! And I have yet to find one that does this well. In the case of the Vedder, unless my pants are super baggy, the profile of the gun prints. I wish they would add additional kydex to appear fully smoothed to hide profile of the gun. @New2SigSauer that may be the smoothest version I've seen... manufacturer?

Thanks, I make all my own holsters.
Due to having the privilege of wearing thin athletic shorts where I'm employed, it absolutely needs to look like a minimalist wallet.

The photo below is my rig during colder weather.

The reason for this post is two-fold.

First, I'd like to quote @nikk, who wrote... "Any hard-angle molding that reveals the contour of the gun should be avoided. Also, any molded-in retention works against keeping the holster in the pocket on a draw. A pocket holster should not have any retention."

@nikk... IMO, you're 100% correct about the first portion of your thought. I would add that a pocket holster should be smooth on BOTH sides so any/all lines of the firearm don't print. The Kydex should meet the bottom of the grip to facilitate this as well. And... while it looks COOL to see the firearm's outline, it's just not practical as "COOL" isn't, or shouldn't be the reason we exercise our freedom, which is why I believe the side that rests against your leg should be smoothed out for comfort also.

While I emphatically respect your opinion, I disagree with the second portion of your thought... "Also, any molded-in retention works against keeping the holster in the pocket on a draw. A pocket holster should not have any retention."
I've made my pocket holsters in a manner that when outside of a pocket and purposely pushing against the thumb tab, the thing fly's ~2' away. It's almost like there's a spring inside.

Secondly, If anyone's interested, reach out as I've made holsters for folks on this forum, as well as cut down 17 round X-macro grips to accept 12 round magazines and short slides.

Check out the photos. Thoughts on how I can improve are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I am NOT an expert on pocket holsters, nor on Kydex holsters. I'm not an expert at anything.
I totally respect your thinking on this and I fully appreciate your holster design.
In fact I would unreservedly say that your design is the most ideal that I have come across in Kydex pocket holsters.
If I were purchasing a Kydex pocket holster, yours would be my number one choice. Seriously, not patronizing.

Please don't take what I wrote as a shot as that's not at all how I meant it. I don't think you did, but if so... I want to make sure you know I appreciate valuable input.
As a matter of fact, your thoughts are the reason why I try to build a better mouse trap.

Thanks for the kind words.

I've tried several and decided on the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holsters. They are a stiff fabric and each size fits a variety of handguns. For example their J-Frame model also fits some compact pistols (where the holster covers the trigger & guard. I've used them for decades now; especially pocket carry for jackets & coats during late fall/winter/early spring; jean pockets for sub-compacts/pocket pistols during the rest of the year.

Yesterday I went to the Phoenix Gun Show and found a vendor who made a custom holster for my P365, it cost me $40.00 and molded to my gun. I love these Crossroad Shows there’s something for everyone.

I have several Desantis Nemesis and sticky holster manly. Have one I stitched inside a back pack pocket that allows a nice secure way to have in backpack to a trigger guard clip so no random discharge is possible no matter how that gets bumped around.

Vedder pocket locker. I’ve tried most styles the pocket locker is by far, the best for me…
I’ve tried the pocket holsters and didn’t care for them. The only holster I use now is a Vedder for my S&W .40 2.0 Performance Center and I really like it. It’s leather backed and super comfortable. I can wear it all day, and almost forget I’m wearing it. The other day I walked into a Doctor’s office, still carrying! I had to apologize profusely and go lock my edc in my car safe. I was extremely embarrassed .
