White (p229) recoil spring in p226 for reduced power loads?

Noticed that the p226 LDC are shipping with 229 recoil springs to make up for additional slide/barrel mass.

Would this be an acceptable substitution in my normal 226 for barely minor pf gaming loads? Anyone try this?

Not a huge fan of the wolf single strand recoil springs.

I don't believe Wolff "invented" the "single wire spring", as that's what Colt used back in at least the early 1900s. Using a basically 1/2" shorter overall length spring is courting disaster in my mind, as it will "shorten" even more with use, as it fatigues. If you're dead set against using Wolff springs...

If the stock "orange" spring is too strong, find a friend that has one that has about 5000 rounds under it's belt, and offer him a "new" replacement, and use his "old" one! Actually I believe the "Orange" spring has a 15# rating, while the "White" P229 spring is 16# rated...

Dave K, welcome to Sig Talk from the southwest corner of Indiana.

Photos would help, along with a little more information. It has come to our attention that Sig has apparently went to a single wire recoil spring from the braided springs of the past. That, and as discussed earlier in this thread, the use of a P229 Recoil spring, in a P226. The P226 LDC is a recent release if made in the US. If they are using P229 length Recoil Springs, then they should have fielded an appropriate redesigned Recoil Spring Guide rod.

Blazer ammunition can be a little anemic. Without seeing what you have, as far as a setup goes, limits recommendations.

i've been using my light handloads in both my 226 and 229. Both pistols have their standard twisted wire springs. I have had no problems with either pistols function. Ejection is normal, 6 ~ 10 feet away.
The handload is 125 grain Missouri Bullet Co. semi wadcutter with 3.8 gr of Bullseye propellant and a Federal small pistol primer. About 900 FPS. and excellent accuracy.
It seems that no matter what I stuff into either pistol, it works, every time all the time.
