Okay, I held a P30SK today.
I still like the V3 no safety, but the LEM was better than I thought, it'd be nice with GG parts tightening up the Pre and Overtravel. I will say the "second strike" on the LEM would be a joke thought, really heavy. Not great on the da/sa, but better it felt like.

My main issue with the SK is that HK puts the largest grip on the back, so I can't reach the paddle mag release with my thumb despite large/XL hands. If I decided to go that way if have to try it with the smaller back swell grip, and see what I think.

I held the 320 AXG, not interested.

Held the Sig M11 and its so sweet, little wide (but fit), and better with the E2 grips. Interested, but definitely more money by a lot than the HK SK. I'd want to do a few GG parts on it too, flat trigger, hammer strut, guide rod, which would put me in the $1400 range before holster. It's definitely sweet and on the short list (next few) regardless.

So, thoughts based on experience with the mag release on the HK with smaller back?

A few years back I wanted an HK but couldn't decide between the VP9 or the P30L
I ended up buying both of them
The VP9 got a lazy wolf trigger & a long slide
The P30L got a Grayguns trigger & srt, last year I sent the slide to Langdon Tactical for an optic cut & plate. Then I got a threaded barrel & a PMM comp

This is the exact same plan I have for my P30LS and P30SKS in regard to the triggers and red dot work. Looks Great!(y)

Have you tried manipulating the magazine release paddle with the middle finger of your shooting hand? That works great for me on both my P2000sk and my P30sk. I GREATLY prefer the paddle release to the button release - very quick and no more unintended mag drops after just a little practice.

This is the way!!

Just tried that Wow so much easier than the index finger for me. I had also done my thumb on the shooting hand thinking that would work best.
Great tip.

Freaking love my HK's.. more so than any other brands i own.
For reference.. I have the following.

1. HK 45 full size.. absolute dream to shoot in 45 caliber. Can shoot all day and doesn't beat you up. Very accurate too.
2. HK VP9SK- favorite of all my HK's.. small, but carries a big punch.. does shoot as good as full size gun and extremely accurate.
3. HK VP9L - Long slide, insanely smooth to shoot and just plain boring.. It practically shoots it'self. lol but i do love it.
4. HK P30L - Smooth, accurate for a combat handgun.. not as accurate as vp9/vp9sk and 45..but very cool pistol.
5. HK P30S- 40 cal that shoots like a 9mm. Must say hands down the most pleasant 40 to shoot to date.

That's just my opinion... here they all are.
HK Fanboy for life... they are expensive but worth every penny.

Had a 45c and it was neat but didn’t do much for me so it moved along. Still want a full size usp at some point. Their new micro compact striker gun looks nice I’m excited to see that whenever they get around to making it.
I highly recommend the USP45 Tactical if you are looking at a full-size. It’s my show-off-at-the-range gun. Unbelievably accurate, even with the stock non-contrast suppressor-height sights.

Have a 45T V1 and struggled with the trigger. Converted to LEM and love it now. Tack driver for sure. Got to shoot a VP9 and it didn't disappoint.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Hhmmmmm , A. just give up and admit that you want an H/K because..................you want an H/K.

As far as mods? Take the car to the track and see what it does prior to modification , so to speak.

As far as Sigs , well as stated I own H/Ks , but then I also have other sidearms in 9mm as well. That said there are valid reasons behind the fact that I own more Sigs in that chambering than all the other makes combined.

At any rate , purchase what YOU like.............shoot.............enjoy.
