Many probably think the JP Silent spring is a gimmick but when it works, it's real nice. I have no issues with my 716 until I put in a JP Silent Captured Spring. BCG bounce galore! I've even purchased their spring kit and tried every spring they got. NG. The BCG bounce is so bad that the bolt will go into battery, bounce far enough back to get stuck right before going back to battery. A very light tap on the forward assist and the BCG will go into battery. Happens every couple rounds. That's too bad coz it's a nice setup. Stock spring and non H2 buffer shows minimal bounce. I have the supposedly Gen 1 716.

Anyway, just in case anyone wants to try that spring set out.

I guess I am a lucky one then. I've put hundreds if not a thousand rounds through mine (have had the JP system in it before the first round was fired) and have never experienced that. No failure to feed/fire/eject, nothing. Shooting with the gas suppressed, normal or off, it has been a dream. Again, maybe I got one that wasn't built on a Monday or Friday????

I have a 516 that I have one ordered for as well.

Ok, so I finally got one for the 516. I went ahead and removed the buffer retainer pin/spring from the lower. I put it through approx 200 rounds without any issue. I do not have my suppressor adapter in yet so I wasn't able to run it suppressed, but, i haven't had any problems with this on the 716 and so far none with the 516, so, I'm happy with it!!! Hope this helps...

I just got a JPSCS for my Gen 2 716 to test. Every time on the 3rd round, it doesn't have enough juice to go into battery or it bounces the bolt. I don't have a high speed camera so I'm not sure which it is. I currently have the 100 lb spring- waiting on the heavier ones to try...

I've read some forums and reviews, but havent found one that discusses their gas settings while using the JPSCS.

Has anyone tried adjusting their gas setting while using the JPSCS? If its bouncing than adjusting the gas may help right?

When you cut the spacer, is it under any pressure when you put the spacer and silent spring system in? Or does it move when behind the buffer retainer? I ask because on mine, it is under a little tension and have had zero problems.

doodi1- It's relatively new with under 125 rounds through it with the stock buffer and spring. It did have the FTF/ bolt sticking problem at first but that was solved by not using any LC brass older than '06.

hijo202- I went out and got five 3/4" polymer washers from the plumbing section to test the length before I tried cutting the extension. The stacked washers put the SCS right at the buffer retaining pin. The pressure feels right when you close it and doesn't rattle when you shake it. Are you running yours with full gas?

Think I'll try with another washer and with retaining pin removed to increase the pressure on the bolt. Or just wait til I hit 1k+ rounds through it and try it again.

Wyo7200,

Then that sounds about right. Mine does not rattle either. I have used mine in all 4 gas settings, also running suppressed on the 2 diff suppressed settings. Hope this helps some. Sounds like it needs to be broken in - unfortunately.

That sounds promising hijo... It's never the cheapest method is it? but looking at the options it's probably the most enjoyable! And the castle nut is staked on so I'm not going to attempt taking out the buffer pin.

I did add another washer (about the thickness of a quarter) to make the SCS protrude a little more and put a little more pressure on the bolt.

I finally got the chance to hit the range so I shot the 716 some more. The SCS is working perfectly now with the original five washers. Now to figure out why it hates anything polymer tipped... :)
