Romeo 1 Sensitivity

Bought a P320RX. The romeo 1 didn't always turn on when I picked it up. Sig replace it. At first I thought the new one also had a problem. It would not always go to sleep and turn off the red dot. I read a post saying the Romeo 1 was so sensitive that an incandescent light would give off enough vibrations to keep it from turning off. My gun was on a dresser with a digital clock on it. I moved the clock and the problem went away to my great relief.

I'm thinking about getting an rx. It will be my first pistol with a red dot. The only concern I have is the sensitivity of the sight. If I should use the rx as a carry gun, wouldn't the movement of my carrying it keep the sight turned on all the time?

Yes, for sure moving around while carrying it will keep it on. The original R1 on my 320C RX went 8 months of EDC on the supplied battery. That was at full brightness and EVERY day carried. I was okay with that. But like all of my other R1's, it finally broke. Of the 4 R1's I have now, all being replaced at least once or twice, none will go longer than 3 weeks in the same EDC condition, tested with all the major brands of fresh batteries. So I've had to turn them down to 4-5 to get a couple of months out of them.

My advice would be get a Sig that gives you more options as far as the optic. Some will take the DPP now, like the M17 and some of the newer X guns. The downside to those choices is that to mount an optic, you loose the rear sight. Another option is to get the slide milled for a more dependable optic.

Well that's generally what you will read in most forums is negative comments or questions.

I mean it's boring to read that the Romeos on both my P320RX's are going on a few years old now without one hiccup. Bought them both when they first went on the market. Have maybe over a 1000 rounds through both of them. I sort of EDC the RX compact. I mean its either on or off body but its with me daily.

However, I have sent both of my P320RX back to SIG for other reasons. The first time because the front sight came loose on both and the second time was for the voluntary trigger upgrade. Both Romeos stayed install for all those trips. I change the batteries every 6 months or right before a training class.

I mean they just work, but then again no fun discussing that, huh..
