Hi all,

Just bought this holster in anticipation of taking a holster class at a local club. It's from Legacy Firearms Co.
I don't know a whole lot about holsters other than doing a lot of reading but it seems pretty slick and I like it and it satisfies the holster requirement of the class. Any critiques of it are welcome as I'm always trying to learn and soak up information.

Here are some pics!

Looks serviceable for a class. You may find after using it for a while that you’re colliding (painfully) with the high points on both sides of the holster but it will be easy to round them off and smooth the contours if that happens.

Once you get the tension set to your liking that big knob is going to be a liability; I would source some other tighter fitting knob to minimize the profile, especially if you are using the holster under a loose shirt or vest that could easily snag on the draw.

A last thing that may or may not come up is that some shooters like to have the magazine release button reachable while the gun is in the holster so they can check or change magazines while holstered. Again, personal choice and could be done with a round file to take out some material there.

That could be a dangerous design. I would not want an embossed portion of the holster pushing into the inside space of the trigger guard where it could end up dragging on the side of the trigger.

Both sides of the holster deeply enter the trigger guard.

This example is IWB, but shows a profile avoiding the trigger in the trigger guard:

Make sure you wear a really stiff belt with that type of holster design. IMO, the belt attachment is mounted too low and the weight of pistol, particularly with a full magazine, will pull holster away from the body if not held securely by a stiff and tightly fastened belt.

Be carefull of one thing, when carrying in the woods or really anywhere that right side safety will get knocked off safe!!!! I use to carry my kimber target 45acp it had a safety on both sides and I found that safety off more than I thought I would..

Was just busting chops about the knob, never seen a design like that.

But one thing I see in the last of the pictures you posted, does the body side guard of the holster interfere with the full travel of the safety? It looks like the safety cannot be fully disengaged because holster material would interfere. Take a look and test that.

Now, one could argue that this could be a good thing, preventing the safety from being disengaged while carrying hot. My thoughts are that a holster should not interfere with the manipulation of the firearm in any way, but that's just me. If their intent was that, then just completely cover the safeties.

Could this holster have been intended for the DA/SA model?

No worries about your hilarious comment ! (y)

The safety moves freely when the pistol is holstered. There is just enough room. From the photo, I can see where one could think that the material would impede but it does not.

The holster was specifically advertised as fitting a SAO. They didn't state that it would fit a DA/SA. There may be functionality issues as previous posters have mentioned but as far as I can tell, there are none with fitment.

Thanks for checking!
