In the last few years I have gravitated back to 1911's for range toys. Eventually, having a concealed pistol with a different manual of arms has begin to bother me so I started a search for a replacement for the Kahr PM9 I have been carrying.
The criterion were to find a pistol that had the same or closely matching manual of arms as my Gov't and Commander sized 1911's, to not significantly grow the size or weight and to be of as good as or hopefully better quality and reliability, chambered in 9mm.
I am left handed so an ambi thumb safety is a must, and in several cases the lack therof was a disqualifier of otherwise reasonable candidates.
The short list was the Kimber Micro 9 and the P938. There are versions of both available from the factory with an ambi thumb safety. Not exactly a spoiler alert, I have a P938 SAS on the way.
It looks as though there are 2 versions of the SAS. An early version whcih is all black, no front sight and a Meprolight Bullseye buried in the slide. The newer version has a natural finish stainless steel slide and 'normalish' sights. It is also melted to a greater extent.
I really liked the profile of the newer version but the snag free sights won me over. The square edges seem to be rounded off a bit and I do like all black for a concealed pistol.
