Nitron is the coating on the slide.

I wondered about that. I'm familiar with Nitron as a knife blade coating, but when I picked up the gun I couldn't see or feel any difference from mine. I'm assuming there are supposed to be wear and corrosion resistance advantages?

 

Your original is probably also Nitron coated, it may not have been labeled or marketed as such.

I wasn't around the p365 back then, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can fill in the history lesson!

Far as I know, all the slides are stainless. The silver ones are bare stainless, the black ones are all Nitron.

 

So in fact there is no difference.

 

My guess is all Sig offered early on was Nitron, so they didn't have to specify. Now with other options, the call out Nitron to distinguish it from the other 365 product finishes. Pure speculation on my part...
