Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster;

I'm a fairly new gun owner, but have been shooting since I was a kid. I bought a P320X5 Legion in March and have been looking at reloading given our current ammogeddon. Are cast lead bullets wise to use on this platform? I'm concerned about the (dry by design) nature of the mechanisms with all the fouling. I'm already pretty hyper-diligent about cleaning after pretty much every range trip so perhaps this may not be as crazy an issue as I imagine, but wanted to get some more experienced views on the subject. Looking at picking up some Colorado Bullet Inc. 147gr, and am going to a local shop this weekend for powder/primer. (Who needs to pay a hazmat fee?)

Suggestions for those are also welcome as well. My father and brother are experienced reloaders, so I have a support network and all of the equipment already, but couldn't really easily find any info on whether the lead bullets will or wont be an issue functionally.

I have shot a lot of cast 9mm bullets, but not in a P320.

I don't see why they would not work for you. The bullet that you specified is a flat point and rather long. It may have more potential for feeding issues than their 125 gn round nose. Not saying it won't work, it may be fine. I have shot semi-wadcutters with good luck.

Also these bullet are made from range lead which means that they are rather soft. Not likely to be a problem at 9mm velocities, but you need to understand what you are getting.

I have shot a lot of lead bullets through all my Sigs, the P22X classics, and the P 320s, all in 9mm/40S&W/45ACP. They all worked fine, but I would suggest you try the powder coated bullets also, even if a bit more expensive. I find it much easier to clean the gun after using the PC bullets, and they give much less smoke and lead in the air when firing. When I run out of jacketed bullets for all three calibers, I will be switching to PC bullets exclusively- no sense wasting money on jacketed bullets when they are not needed.

I totally agree, Hi-Tek polymer coated bullets are the only way to go. They are much less expensive than jacketed and waaaay cleaner than external lubed. The only negative I have heard about them is they may smoke slight more than jacketed in low light shooting with lights. Other wise they have less friction than jacketed, the barrels are easer to clean, and there is much less residue on the rest of the gun. I have shot them in my G45 Glock, 1911s, P320 XCompact, P210, P229 Legion and other pistols without any problems. My fav is the 124/125g LRN and I have shot thousands of them.
