P320 Takedown Lever and Slide Stuck

Evening Folks,

Picked up a Lima320 Grip Module for my P320 XCarry that I got a month ago. (Old eyes are not as sharp getting on target as they once were). Disassembly and putting most of it back together went fine. When replacing the slide assembly something happened or I did that has the takendown lever at 4 o'clock and the slide in a full closed position. Slide and takedown are locked tight.

If I apply some significant force to the takedown lever in an attempt to return it to the 6 o'clock position the slide moves a fraction forward as much as the takedown lever moves down. I dont dare apply more pressure not knowing what has happened.

It accepts a magazine. Trigger pull as usual. Its otherwise locked up like this.

Any ideas? I'm scratching my head. It slipped into this state easy enough, seems like it should come out. New fangled hammerless contraptions... 🙂

Thanks!

Hi there, I'm relatively new to the 320 (new operator of an X5 Legion), but I think your issue is the your recoil spring assembly was inserted in the wrong orientation (longer dimension horizontal on the barrel end). (forgive, if I am wrong).

I think you need to force the slide forward (with some force) while manipulating the take down lever.

P.S. Inserting a magazine and tapping it hard from the bottom, may also help.

good luck.

No, if you have the recoil spring sideways, the slide won't go far enough back to engage the slidelock and also preventing the takedown lever from beging to turn.

Are you trying to rotate the take down lever with the slide forward?

So within two minutes of coming down and picking it up this morning I moved the slide forward that fraction of an inch and it dawned on me to try and depress the sear that was exposed at the base of the rear of the slide and grip module. Not only getting old but apparently unable think past 9PM. Slide came free. Moved takedown lever back to 6:30, replaced the slide and now working as intended. Maybe I can find some time to sneak away and adjust the laser this weekend.

No idea how the takedown lever ended up at the 4 o'clock position. I must have moved it in replacing the slide assembly.

Thanks for the replies!

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have the exact same issue as the gentleman above with my Lima320 laser grip. I never got as far as removing the recoil sprung because the assembly/disassembly manual that came with item says to remove the slide with spring and barrel intact.
While reassembling I had the same issue with the takedown lever getting stuck in the same exact position as shown in the photos above.
After reading the comments and replies listed in this forum, but it still will not move more than an 8th of an inch in either direction. Any other suggestions you might have for me to try?

Wait till you put the Slide on with no Takedown Lever inserted.
I've done that a couple of times in my rush to assemble the gun.

In those instances just remove the Slide's back plate..remove the striker and slide the slide off of the FCU.
That feels like a real Dumbo Moment!

Here is a Video by Sig Sauer Guy that shows a easy way to remove the FCU if you assembled and forgot to put the Takedown Lever in..
Just Sayin' since we are talking about the Takedown Lever.

I have never done this ^ (yet), but if I do, I hope that I remember this informative post.

did the same thing once. I had to remove the side and FCU out of the module. Push the spring back and it came off. Thats video helped me.

My m17 almost got stuck yesterday too. But a little more push on the takedown lever worked. Take your time putti there lever back in and slide on next time. Easy to mess up.

New owner. The slide will not travel far enough to engage side release. The guide is positioned correctly. When I put the takedown lever horizontal, I can lift the side release and the mag safety clicks in. Have tried many suggestions but when takedown lever is moved back to 7 o'clock position, about five o'clock the safety for mag disengages. The takedown lever is a beast. Am disgusted, never have I had such a contrary fubar.
