In all,actually my wife's P232,has fed/ejected every round that fits in the magazine,both factory ball & hand loaded hollow point ammo.

The ONLY modification to the pistol was installing Hogue rubber finger groove grips on it 20+ years ago.

The ONLY issue to date,was a take down lever abnormality that was easily precision TIG welded by myself.

 

Will take the P230 out and try some hollow point now that its been back to Sig. I see you live in FBK's Alaska, been there twice, once when I went to the Artic Circle and two years later with my sister. I drove two trips thru Canada and US and never got a broken windshield until I got to Fairbanks. A woman in a Expedition passed me and threw up a bunch of rocks and they got me. She must have been in a hurry to get to a garage sale or something. Anyhow I didn't change the windshield until I got home, priced them out and they were a little steep.

Don't recal ever having problems with HP ammo and my 232.

 

This answers a lot of questions for me about the pistol, especially no. 6 I didn't know this.

I found that out also, trial by fire.

I've got a p232 sl, Hogue grips as well.

I could feel when I use flat nose .380 they seem to feed a little harshly/ catch a bit on the feed ramp when racking the slide

Remember the 230 was in Europe long before it came to these shores, and Hollowpoints aren't widely accepted on the "Continent". Probably the primary reason for the introduction of the P232. This change also included changes to the magazines too, IIRC.

I had a P232 myself back in the mid-90s, and there wasn't the selection of ammunition as there is today. IIRC, our department issued Hornady JHP, and I don't remember any of our guys having any problems, being the armorer, but then again there was an updated P230, before the introduction of the P232.
