Got a line on a NOS P229R SSE out the door for $1100. Photos all support NOS condition so here’s hoping 🤞🏾 reality aligns once it shows up! (I’m thinking that was a good deal, but if not if it shows up in good condition I’ll still be happy!)

The steel framed version was the only other model sig I’d been keeping an eye out for; and while I may at some point try to gather up another 220 or 227 I’m fairly certain I’m set at this point!

I’ve got a 22lr upper waiting for it; and will need to pick up another set of barrels for the 4 caliber combo.

Anyway, more to follow! Cheers!

I just picked up an P229 SSE also for $999 with 12 mags. Also included an extra set of Houge Burl Walnut grips. It WAS pristine until I just put 615 rounds through it. Something you should keep an eye on is hammer stop. Mine started hitting the beaver tail marking it. I also noticed the mag catch was catching the mag lip stopping combat reloads. So disappointing to say the least. I call Sig about warranty and the customer support said he never heard of such an issue. I REALLY HATE WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE TALK TO YOU LIKE YOU DON‘T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT THE OPERATION OR RELATION OF PARTS! Anyway, I decided to fix myself, replace mag catch and hammer stop. Problems solved. The gist of my story is just keep an eye on your hammer stop to prevent damage like mine received. The pic of this hammer stop is the old one that looks like it started to deform.

I believe you need it to be chambered in .40 to throw in a .357 sig barrel........ If you want 9mm you need a slide same as the 22 lr
yep! she’s a .40! I’ll use my Barsto 9 conversion barrel and 357 barrel initially from my other 229 and eventually get the additional barrels to cover both.

Though I may look at grabbing a P229-1 9mm barrel over another barsto or efk as my research suggests that -1 barrel’s dimensions have been standardized to the 40 frame/slide other than the hood width as the only differentiating dimension. (If so these would work fine as is the case in the 239 for example; and for reference I have yet to see a sig 40/357 slide of any model not reliably extract a 9 case with an appropriate barrel)

I’d previously picked up a 229 22LR threaded kit that was a steal knowing I’d eventually pick up a second 229. It’s just been sitting in the safe waiting…

Great tip on the hammer stop, would not have thought to check that. My other 229 doesn’t have a beaver tail. I’d definitely be abit ****** if I noticed that after my first trip to the range!

not sure if any of the members here picked up the 9mm and 40 that closed tonight but if so congrats! They looked great! (And thanks for making me feel better about my purchase…I get anxiety about if I made a good decision once prices get a comma in them regardless of the item! 🍻!)

For those tracking who are interested the 9mm closed around 1500 and the 40 is over 2k (as I type) Both listed as NOS and aligns toward marketplace sale prices between members here.

Congrats, I picked up a 357 conversion slide kit a while back for my 229/40.
May part with it if you decide you want to go that route.
I am looking to pick up a complete 229/357 to match my 229/40

Still awaiting paperwork, but she checks out! Nothing indicates anything but NOS condition.

-first time I’ve held and seen the SSE in person! I have to say I am way more impressed than I thought I’d be with it compared to my Redbox 229 DAK (now franken-sig). I’d previously considered, oh it’ll be heavier and slightly more refined. And it is. But when you see it and pick her up it just exudes class, as in this is what an heirloom quality gun should be for the family.

It’s similar to the P225-A1 in the hard to quantify category. By all measures the 225 should feel similar to the 229; but when you shoot it it’s just enough different that your reaction is like wow. That was my reaction today… wow with a smile on my face.

Definitely a shame they don’t make them this way anymore… and am glad I bit the bullet on the impulse buy.

More to follow once I get her home next week.

Took the wood grips off before I scratch them and threw on an E2 I had in a box. Will need to decide if I’ll put some G10, or steal the GG ones off my other 229.

Nothing but happy with it! Also I think the hammer stop doesn’t actually touch the beaver tail but it’s a hairs breath to it.

can’t wait to take her on the test run.

Picked up an excellent condition optic ready Legion 9mm parts kit as I don’t plan to mill the SSE slide, and I prefer a dot overall. Stole a RMR from another slide for a test run…all as expected just need to send the slide back to sig to bead blast to match the frame!

On a similar note, the SSE’s DAO (now with a AC spring reduction kit) is better than my well used P250’s and my Sig-Armorer tuned 225. No hitch or wall. I always thought people who talked about triggers as full of it. Turns out I’m now one of those people…
