Mounting a Trijicon RMR to a M17/320

Does anyone know if you can mount a RMR sight on a M17 without a bunch of custom work having to be done? I called Sig and they do not have a plate and said they will not be making a plate for anything other than their products. Specifically the Romeo1. I called Trijicon and they said to call Sig as they do not have a plate. Any ideas?

We have a 5 year old m&p core with a trijicon optic but it is the no battery RMO5g model . All dot optics can have some issues for concern like being to bright or turned to far down for conditions and need adjusting or auto brightness controls that never are spot on or no off switch to batteries going died quicker than expected do to dot intensity setting . The RMO5g uses a fiber optic cable in green or yellow and tritium night sights inserts ! I like the green dot even though I have used 2moa tube type red dots for 40 years on hunting handguns the green works nicely on a defensive handgun . Jerry Miculek use to use this optic before vortex throwed big money at him to switch brands .

The RMO5g optic has a 9moa dot but that's still only 2.25" of coverage at 25 yards so its easy to see but its short coming is moving from a dark interior to a bright exterior . You loss the dot for a moment so you rely on the stock tall fixed sights for that moment .

Trijicons TYPE 2 battery powered units are very good on handguns with the 6.5moa dot for defensive needs , smaller dot size if a fun gun .

I hate the fact that sig did not offer some mounting plates like m&p did with there CORE and I don't like being stuck with on optic brand option like sig/holosum made units . Rather run a vortex dot optic than a sig romeo what ever

Lots of talk not addressing the actual question:
Does anyone know if you can mount a RMR sight on a M17 without a bunch of custom work having to be done?
I don't own an M17, but believe the answer is maybe. Try calling Springer Precision and asking them if the plate they sell for the P320-X5 will work, or if they offer what you're looking for. Here is a link to the mounts they sell:

Trijicon makes a generic dovetail mount as well, I know that's not what you asked for, but it would work.

I don't know what you consider "a lot of custom work" but you can get the slide milled for the RD you want to mount, and I would think that whoever does the sight cut could also provide a cover plate. Around here, that job will run in the $200 range. I would also add suppressor-height sights as back-ups. Do the iron sights yourself for less than $100.

And welcome aboard.

Ok.....I put the RMR back in the safe for the time being and went out and got the DeltaPoint Pro. The gun is cut specifically for this sight. Total time to install was less than 15 minutes. Fits like a glove. Looks great. I am impressed with the quality of the sight. Heading to the range to get it sighted in. Will give a range report later tonight.

I love my DP Pro. The window is larger and clearer than the RMR. I think from a durability standpoint, and for a carry profile the RMR is likely ahead of the game a bit, but for range and competitive scenarios, the DP Pro seems the better tool to me.
