If it has an LCI I think it has a magazine disconnect. There are some models that haven't been change by sig since prior to the new regs (P220s as you mentioned, P239s are another) and don't have the new "safety" features.

The other lines that has them that I've seen is the P229 and P238. Not sure about any of the 1911s still sold in CA.

 

I took my CA P226 9mm to a local Sig surgeon and had those terrible Calif birth defects removed. He surgically removed the mag disconnect and filed back the LCI. I then refinished the slide to remove the ugly LCI writing.

My CA P238 has the mag disconnect – and the LCI. Fortunately, my CA X5 Comp has neither.

No. There are a couple of P229's that have it. If you check the DOJ roster, most guns that have -CA after them have the mag disco and LCI.

 

cal doesn't always get 'em with the lci & sometimes other vendors do & it surprises the buyer when the purchase ends up with the lci & mag disconnect.

 

When I purchased (From SIG) the 9mm conversion kit for the P226 .40 in question, it did not come with the LCI even though I had to specify the CA version on their website which meant I was getting the 10 rd mag with it.
So there does not seem to be any consistency with the laws in this case.

 

You can modify the gun after you own it. The FFL just can't sell it without the CA features. I believe there is a different version that works with the mag disconnect. This is why you had to specify your version (as well as the mags).

 

I just called SIG to order a non-CA Locking Insert but couldn't sell it to me for legal reasons which I fully understand, but they did offer another source where I could get it. Which I did. $146.99 wow.
At any rate, the next step is to educate myself via Youtube on how to do it.

so many have been destroyed on P226 & P229 i had the folks at SCS send me a bunch for free. working with tiny little springs with not so good eyes is always a time for fun and cursing.
as for he LCI, i just leave it when it breaks.

The locking insert is easy once you do it a few times.

You guys do realize there are plenty of lightly used normal Sigs under $650 just about everywhere in CA right?

The other would be that everyone I know in Oakland, for example, is all about diversity but has a gun safe that would make a Texan proud. Amazing what will come up private party when something new comes out.
