Identifying a 365 XL vs. X

I have a question regarding identifying an X from an XL.
I saw an L next to the X in a pic on the forum. I know I ordered an XL, same as my stepdaughters...
I looked at my "XL" and there is no L on the left side of the slide. Then I looked at the site and the pics on the XL page kinda contradict themselves. See the screen grabs below.
Do the serials follow a pattern for 365, 365X and 365XL? My serial starts 66G. Everything I've ordered for my pistol has been for an XL and it all fits correctly.
Thanks in advance for any info y'all can provide...

YES it can be confusing…Its still XL, I have the earlier version w XL but later versions aka newer marketed as X. See the Legion below also…someone can give ya dates on that my XL is early gen 1 variety.
And alot of kit is interchangeable w X series. Just pay attention to barrel lengths, macro, X etc.
My serial is 66Axxxxxx etc

If it has a 3.7” barrel it is an XL. The only difference between an X and an XL is the length of the barrel and corresponding length of the slide. X has a 3.1” barrel and XL has a 3.7” barrel.

I will say those “Metal” AXG or Sharps Bro’s grip modules and added weight feel great and so does the poly ones w funnels added, great size and control in hand. My wife felt all of em on the XL and she liked the sharps also being a tad wider grip and trigger guard undercut thru grip panel shaving on top all good too fyi.

I disagree on not buying one that has the rear sight on the optic plate. Now that sig sells the x-compact red dot I got my rear sites back and I can holster it with a higher degree of cant. I carry IWB strong side and do not care for a straight drop. I will never replace my XL slide and wish my Fuse was the same.

I put my XMacro slide marked with just the X and trigger on an X grip all summer, essentially making it an XL, and then back onto an XMacro grip in winter. Love this platform!

The newer 3.7" slides place the Optic so you can keep the rear sight.
I like the older versions that place the optic and remove the rear sight. I use Holosun 407k and use the little rear sight tabs that are on the optic.

It's also in the grip module -- the grip module that comes with an XL is a tad higher (accomodating a 12 round magazine) while the grip module that comes with the X usually comes with a ten round magazine (although longer mags can be used with (or without) the spacer.

But that's all changeable...

Which is confusing, because the X and XL quickly "lose their identify as end items" (as they say in the Army when something is assembled into something else for use). Sig markets them under the nomenclature X, XL, Macro, and now Fuse, based primarily on the grip module - but also based on the size slide/barrel used -- although all of these things are changeable!

Truly, they are all just P365s, and the P365 is a Chameleon. I have a FCU that came by itself -- it is the actual pistol -- with a serial number that starts with the letters FC. On my inventory list, I had trouble deciding how to describe it. It has been a X (in the shortest grip module), an XL (in the slightly taller grip module), and now it is kind of Macro (with tallest grip module and the 17 round magazine, with WC "short" [e.g., length of dust cover] grip module and a 3.1" barrel and slide). It is not quite the same thing as a regular Macro, which is sold with a 3.7" barrel and slide, or in some cases with the 3.1" barrel, compensator, and 3.1" slide!
I think the grip module for the X and XL are the same. Both can handle 12 or 10 rd magazines

The modular nature of the 365 is great, I just wish they would fix the trigger! All these variations are fine but they all have the infamous 365 trigger, lots of pretravel, some mush, then a wall, sort of. So we all mod the trigger and make it better, but at what point does all the fiddling become a liability in an actual gun fight and any legal aftermath? I finally got my fcu trigger where I like it, but I may not carry it.

SW Shield X felt good out of the gate, great ergos, better trigger, same size as XL, reasonable price. But my next gun will be a **** gun so most likely a g19 or g17.
