How does the Sig P226 compare to the CZ 75B?

My son has a CZ 75 SP01 and I have tried other CZ 75s.

CZs are nice pistols but IMO they do not compare to a SIG P226 in reliability, fit and finish, and especially the trigger. My experience the CZs are very reliable but all my SIGs have been 100 percent supremely reliable. In the rare times when my son had a problem with his CZ he blamed it on the ammo and then I put it in my P226 and no issue at all.

The trigger on my son's CZ SP01 is simply atrocious. In SA it feels like driving over a bumpy gravel road. After a couple thousand rounds it is getting better but still not close to either of my P226s.

I will say though that even with the trigger I can still shoot his CZ SP01 very well but still much prefer my P226s. Even he was supsrised how much better that he shot with my P226 the very first time he ever tried it compared to his CZ SP01.

CZs are fine pistols but for a long time their allure was their price to performance ratio and they aren't that cheap anymore. IMO there are better options within their price range - even the SP2022.

I don't know where you are getting your SSE from but they are often available online NIB for under $900 from Gun Broker auctions by Osage County Guns. They have an auction right now for $959 starting price and no one has been buying it at that price.

Just my 2 cents and another shooters experience may vary.

I've always wanted a Sig P226 Elite Stainless but always thought it was a bit too much
Don't think of it as a cost but an investment.

I don't shoot that much compared to many but I still spend at least $1000 a year on range fees and ammo. I want what I shoot and like the best and if that costs an extra $200 - $400 up front so be it. A very small investment considering what my total shooting costs will be over a preiod of years.

A shooting buddy of mine was weighing the pros / cons of the 226 but ended up owning a CZ due to the "half the price" attraction. The gun is a real 'nail driver' but, from time to time, I see him casting covetous looks at my 226 when we're at the range!
I don't understand the "half the price of a P226". I see P226s NIB at about $800 at my LGS and new CZ 75 for around $550.

What is another $250 for a life time of shooting enjoyment especially considering the cost of ammo and range time included over that time?

My LGS has like new CPO P226s from time to time for the same price as a new CZ 75. They also are one of the largest gun stores in the midwest and don't even have any CZs for rent. When I asked why they said it is rare that anyone wants to rent one.
