As I get older I find that I have trouble focusing on my handgun front sight.
When I was younger black-on-black sights worked fine, not so much now.
I have a big honking white XS Sight on one 1911 that works great. But I don't like the XS rear sights and I don't see where they sell the front sights only.
I'm trying fiber optic front sights and they seem to work OK. I don't know how durable they are. They look fragile.
In the process of trying a gold bead front sight. Will probably have that installed later this week.
Tritium sights, like SIG's SIGLITE sights, work well. But many tritium sights, when they go dark around 10 years old, are little better than black-on-black sights.
Price is a factor. Fiber optics cost about $40, gold bead about $80, tritium (with or without fiber optic) about $150+. Trial and error can get costly.
What do you senior shooters out there use and recommend? I'm curious what your experience is to help us seniors stay competitive.
