X-carry Legion w/ compensator cycling issues

2532 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  kevinRR
Hey all,
I recently purchased an X-carry Legion. I love the gun in general. I was going to go with the standard X5, but I already have the M17 so I went with the X-carry. SO here's my issue. I installed the Armory Craft compensator and as you could guess, it isn't cycling AT ALL. I searched in the forums and had read that people were going with the DPM Recoil reducer (went with the lightest spring). It is still not cycling properly. I emailed Armory Craft and haven't heard anything yet. Anyone have any suggestions?

So to be clear, the gun was cycling fine before you put the compensator on it?
It was. I put about 50 rds through it and it was just fine. Blazer FMJ 115g
That's a strange situation. I could understand if it partially cycled, or stovepiped, but no cycle at
all just doesn't add up. Obviously the spring is the first thing that comes to mind, but you tried that.
Hopefully someone on ST will chime in that had a similar issue.

Worst case repost it under the gunsmithing section if you don't get more replies.
Got it, thank you. I did some reading and I guess people that have put suppressors on it are all having cycling issues. Armory Craft just got back to me and told me to use +P ammo, and that should fix the issue. However, I try to shoot frequently and I shoot most of my guns all the time. I don't want it to be a safe queen. Also +P ammo isn't cheap..... I may just trade it for a full size X5 or swap the barrel for a standard carry non- threaded barrel.
Yeah just saying use +P isn't much of an answer.

I have the same issue with my X-Carry Legion when I installed the AC Compensator. It either stovepipes or it returns to battery with the spent casing still in the extractor. I was using 115gr Winchester White Box. I do have some 115gr Fiocchi which is usually a hotter round I need to try but I think it will need a 124gr NATO round to cycle properly.

Sig also offers a compensator, I bet it does the same using the Sig comp, I guess Sig will tell you, you need to use their Elite Ball 9mm rounds.
Get an AC spring kit for the CARRY size, use the lower weight springs..

I have DPM but really wish I would have waited to get one of these.. "still getting". AC said that there's another spring, 20lbs for this, that will be available next weekish.. applicable if you're running .357 Sig, from what I understand.

I have one of their X5 Bull Barrel/ Comps on a Legion.. made it even nicer to shoot.

AC finally has the Spring Kits in for the X-Carry Legion, I was able to place an order today. It is hard to tell how soft the X-Carry shoots with the AC Compensator when you have to manually rack the slide after each shot.

did it worked properly?
did it worked properly?
I also have a P320 X Carry Legion using a Harrington Arm single port comp. The gun would not cycle properly so I purchased the AC recoil tuning kit and it cycle everything 115, 124, 147 and 125 +P. I'm using the 13lb spring which is what AC recommend when using a comp.
