They should have done that years ago. They had the tooling for sure, all of the Combat variants of the Classic P series had a proper rail.

Take a look at the P226 X Five rail.Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but I've got to wonder/hope that Sig might finally be ready to completely ditch their proprietary "Sig Rail" in favor of the M1913 spec accessory rail?
The reason I'm thinking that is, all of their most recent releases (P320 AXG, P322, P365 Macro, P226 X-Fives) all have M1913 rails so it definitely seems like that's the direction they are heading but what I really want to see is them retro that change their older models.
I for one would love a Legion/Elite style 226 frame with a M1913 rail! It's not like they don't already have the CNC code worked out for the 226's from the MK25 frames so come on Sig...

Already did /\Take a look at the P226 X Five rail.
They are already using it on a number of their models so I can't imagine that being much if any concern?It may have to do, with paying a Patent Fee to the Patent Holder...
They've already done it on the P226, P229 and P220 on the Combat models.It would be very simple to shorten the US X frames to do this for the 226, and it wouldn't be a stretch to do it for the 220s and 229s. I would much prefer they go this route, too. I want a tacticool, beavertail, standard frame I can hang my Atlas bipod off of! The beavertail will make it more legit than on my MK25...
