Who’s planning on attending a gun show soon? What are you looking for?

With Independence Day coming what better way to celebrate freedom by attending a good ole American gun show!

I’m counting down the days to one of the largest shows occurring less than an hour South of me down in West Palm Beach, FL on July 9th-10th. I have a pretty large shopping list so hopefully I can score some of it.

First I’m looking for a collector grade P226 or the right shooter P229 in .40. Also keeping an eye out for the perfect 22LR pistol to use as a suppressor host. Probably magazines too for some of my pistols. Last time I attended this show I noticed at least three vendors all having massive stock of almost any magazine you could think of. However I blew all my cash on a used but really clean older HK USPc 9mm with the original box, etc..

Usually the weekend after the July 4th holiday is prime time for gun shows. Who’s going? Where and watcha getting?

I stopped going to gun shows. The day of the gun show deals are over. Some shops even charge more due to the cost of the tables.

I go just to look around, watch some idiot walking around in a Nazi SS uniform and to handle some of the older weapons on sale (M-1s, Mauser 98s, etc.), and to see what kind of junk they have. Used to buy bulk Ammo from Georgia Arms, but no deals lately due to that phony Virus shutdown.

You will probably see some LE trade in P226s in .40. They're lurking in the market these days.

I go occasionally to one of the bigger ones in Southeast PA. It's just a fun time if you don't set your expectations too high.

With the price of gas, plus the price of admission (usually in the $8-10 range), I have to find a pretty good deal just to cover expenses of getting to/from the show. That being said, I like going to a show just to see what's out there. I found a P250 compact .45, with original box, magazines, etc., at a show last fall which I bought for what I consider a fair price. There was also a seller with a P232 which was way overpriced, and he refused to barter, so that one didn't leave the show, at least with me.
It's a like a county fair to me. I don't buy firearms at the show but it could give me perspective of the overpriced or something. Like @phlyers13 said, beef jerky. I found some real good beef jerkies at the smaller gun shows.
I do find some small gizmos that might be useful for the garage. And no, not a katana made in China.

I'd be looking for a show that has a time machine at the entrance. Even if it only went back to about 2018.

I have a gun show 2 miles away from my home in Phoenix. I needed a holster and the vendor would be at the show. It was cheaper and less hassle to buy it online from that vendor, with parking and admission at $30.
Everything I was interested in was at or above retail.

I know this is a handgun forum, but I'd love to find a 6.5 mm Swedish Mauser with a sporterized walnut stock.

Phoenix, AZ… Biggest show here is in December, very few deals can be found there. Best shows for deals here are in the summer time. But I honestly haven’t attended one in like 4 years…
Yes - Springfield SA-35. And continuing my quest of the last 20 years. A Bren 10 for under $500... LOL.

How would you define “collector grade P226”?
I had hoped to go in July, seeking a used Sig P226 in 357. However, I discovered that the outfit that puts them on in Waukesha, WI has none planned since their last one in May. Not sure what the deal is, whether they're phasing out and another entity will kick in, or whether gun shows are on the way out here in Wisconsin.
To many $800 Glocks for me. It is a show for sure, cause they ain't selling them!
