Which SIG muzzle device for Rattler 300?

2641 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Flint Ironstag
Hello all,
I'm going to be adding a SIG Taper-Lok mount to my Rattler 300BLK. I wanted to ask the forum -- which one is preferred, the flash hider type (left) or the muzzle brake (right)? (pic below of the two candidates for ease of reference)
It will likely be a long time before I get the can, so I'll be shooting with whichever one I choose for a long time. And I hardly ever shoot right next to another shooter on the line, so I'm not terribly concerned about side blast.
Thoughts and opinions welcome! Thanks!

Just some additional info: I am familiar with the difference between the two (flash signature reduction vs. recoil mitigation). Given that the 300BLK doesn't really have excessive recoil nor excessive flash, there isn't a clear winner from my perspective. I am more curious as to who runs each and what they like/dislike about their particular choice.

I would go with flash hider type since a can/suppressor is in the future.

Go with the flash hider. That muzzle brake don’t look like it would do much except weight savings anyway. I use flash hiders with all my suppressors.

Sig dropped their srd line that works w this qd system..so unless can source old stock srd can’t use..some recommend brake to tame the burn and save the barrel from rapid degradation..fwiw..run brakes on my 556 srd (16 and 11.5 virtus)

Yeah, I was going to mention this too.

A clutch lock would be the move here with a SLH300Ti-QD suppressor.

Ugh. Well, THAT changes everything. :(
And of course, the new SLX/SLH SIG suppressors look great, but seem to be substantially more than the SRD ones. No wonder the SRD mounts were on sale!

Thank you so much for the VERY timely information, gentlemen -- you saved me some headache. Have to start over with a different plan -- that SLH762TI-QD looks interesting but price/availability are blockers. Was hoping to get into a suppressor setup for around $1000 or less, can, stamp and mount included.

Maybe just put a flash can on it for now until I figure it out &/or build up some more cash.

Thanks again! Any other suggestions are welcomed.

I'd go flash hider. The blast and concussion would make me not want the one on the right when unsuppressed.

Just a note on the can.

The SLH300 is truly optimized for 300blk and optimum sound signature within the design criteria.

The SLH762 is more of a general purpose 30-caliber can. Although it is over an inch shorter.

As with all things can related, everything is a tradeoff.

From all reports they both seem to be good cans.

Unless you’re just absolutely dead set on using a Sig can, then I would recommend the SiCo Omega 300 with a direct thread mount (you can sell the QD mount/adapter that come with it in order to recoup some of the cost…it’s what I’ve got on my Virtus Tacops and I love it!

Thanks - the specs do look impressive on that one. However, their spec sheet claims the warranty is void for any 300BLK shorter than 7", so that leaves my 5.5" Rattler out. Thanks for the thought anyway! :)

Take a look at the Dead Air Nomad 30. No barrel restrictions. It’s what I have on my 9” MCX. It sounds great!
