And, why the heck is it soooooooo pricey?

"Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" P7M8 for $100k

Seller's description doesn't tell me anything that justifies the 100k price tag.

"we offer today at a mere $.01 with no reserve this Extremely Rare Heckler & Koch P7M8 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prototype!!

This is Hands Down one of the Rarest HK P7M8 to Ever Exist and would easily be the Holy Grail piece in any HK Collection!!

This P7M8 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prototype is Built on a Prototype HK P7M8 Frame which wears a Serial Number of 79733 which is a P7M13 Serial Number Range!! The Serial Number Range for the P7M8 started at Serial Number XXXXX!! All of the Saudi P7s were P7M13 Models with the exception of this one!!

This sought after P7M8 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains in Wonderful Collector condition showing some signs of handling and use which is expected of a prototype!!

This Saudi Arabia P7M8 is complete with a original un-numbered Heckler & Koch case with the Saudi Arabia Crest!! Inside you will find the Manual, The Two Extremely Rare PT8 Marked Magazines & Cleaning Tools!!"

Ha! I saw that and added it to my watchlist just to see what happens.
He put the price on it to make some of his deep pocket buyers think that’s what it’s worth I guess? Other than that no idea? It is rare for sure. But $100k?

Everything he’s selling is “ultra rare” lol.
I’m assuming those are proof marks on the slide in the last pic?

"Make Offer." Probably no more than $12,500. Some P7's have asking prices up to $10k.

Collectors don't buy based on the utility or even condition, it's the imagined provenance of its exclusivity/rarity. Like a Chippendale dresser on Antiques Roadshow - remove the finish and lose 2/3's of the value. Shellac turns black over a century but homeowners prefer a more natural wood grain, off it comes.

A lot of auction sites suffer overvalued merchandise listed at 10x the going rate. Look up ebays prices on Rolexes. A recent auction for a mid 70s Submariner known to be a Brit MoD issue resulted in a $280k price tag. One of 1200 issued and 120 known to still exist. They are called "MilSub's" and the rich vy at possession.

It's an ego game and having the disposable income of the NYC budget means very few can play. Some cater to it.

I think I’ll have my jewelry engraver friend do the same engraving on my Sig 1911 and sell it in GB. Hopefully I’ll get $100k as well 😝.

IMHO, an engraving like this doesn't make the weapon "rare" or "collectible." It does the opposite and makes it worthless. I've seen this with watches, Rolex models with special presentation dials that were given to somebody (self)important. A one-off or one of five, etc.

Take the retail price of a P7M8, subtract the cost of replacing the slide, and you have fair value.
As an avid Hk follower I can say I’ve never seen or heard of one of these.
It is definitely rare and may just be unique as obtaining a gun with that kind of proof marks is probably pretty hard. But I don’t see the $100k.
He’d probably get close to $20k if he just ran it as his others and started it at a penny.
Do we even know if those are proof marks? I'm unable to find anything related to proof marks on firearms sold in Saudi Arabia. And, since the gun is devoid of any German proof marks, one would deduce that it was not completely assembled in Germany. Saudi Arabia is not a CIP member country, so there is no proof marking requirement.

Q is the serial number in a documented H&K range that will date the gun?
May be MBS will buy this "limited edition." He can afford it.

Don't know, because I have no ideas about HK gun serial numbers.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay. Arabic writing on it certainly makes it rare, but the only chance that guys has of getting 100 k is if a sheik buys it. The p7 that are asking 10k haven't gone anywhere, but if they do I have magazines that I'd let go for $1,000 ea.
Assuming it was custom made for a prince or royalty , that makes it less valuable to me, I’d prefer a gun that was used like a police trade in or an old western gun fighter

I am not sure it’s more rare than this p7m13 Pakistani ordnance that recently sold for 25000 euro.
